Vitamin B

mega dosing on B vits is it safe?
Hi All,
I have major hair loss and one of the things that seems to really help is B vitamins, but I have to take mega doses.

B1 100mg
B2 100mg
B3 as niacinamide 100mg
Folate as folic acid 400 mcg
B-12 as cyanocobalmin 100mcg
Biotin 100mcg
Pantothenic Acid 100 mg
Choline as choline bitartrate 47 mg
inositol 100mg
Paba 100 mg

I have to take 9 of these a day in order to slow down the hair loss. This seems unnatural to take so much. Do you think this is safe? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi Connie:
I'm new to forum and I also have major hair loss. I just started taking Biotin 2000 mcg/day because I read somewhere online where Candida strips the body of Biotin. I wish I could find the article for you. Actually, it said for Candida, to take at least 3000mcg. Lord, I hope it works. My hair doesn't shed or anything until I wash it. Have you seen any regrowth?

You might try raw egg yolks only as they are extremely high in Biotin.I separate the raw egg and just swallow the yolk.no taste basically.Try to get free range eggs if possible. The reason for just taking the yolk , there is an enzyme in the white that will neutralize most of the biotin. If you can't take it raw, make a nog out of it,but, try not to disturb the yolk too much as it evidently will alter the value of it.This info came to me from Dr.Mercolas web-site.

biotin will only help to a point if the problem is fungal. You have to treat the fungus. Biotin will help what hair you have become more healthy.

Have you thought of taking a lesser dosage of the B Complex and just adding higher doses in of Biotin. It may be just one of the B's that is helping with the hair specifically. It probably isn't likely that you have deficiencies in all the B's.

I agree with penny. I would take a standard b complex with moderate amounts of b. I dont think that you need that high a dose and it may not be good for you b ut I think b vitamins are important. I would also take extra biotin as penny suggested. If you just take biotin by itself, or any b vitamin by itself, it can make you deficient on the other b vitamins. Biotin is the one that helps with skin and hair.
