Vitamin D
Hi Harold,
I'm sold on Vitamin D now. That presentation was incredible. I'm glad you found it and shared it. I was familiar with the Natural Ovens and Vitamin D3 research, but hadn't heard of the study in Romania. I'm definitely increasing my Vitamin D3.
Thanks, Harold!
What is the very best form of vitamin D and should you take it if you have wilsons syndrome?
Liz;
This is the site that will answer your questions re Vitamin D.It runs for about an hour.I get the cheap Vit.D3 at my local HF store and take 4 a day @ 1000 mgs each.I can not see any problem with Wilsons syndrome, but if you are worried, start out breaking the tablets into quarters and take one 1/4 a day to start, then work up slowly.Do you have any bad reactions in going out in the sun, other than sunburn? All Vitamin D is doing is filling in for lack of Ultra-violet from the sun.

Impressive ,wasn't it?
I had a few of the facts wrong though.I think I was mixing up some data from similar Swedish research I read some time ago.As I always say,"Memory is a poor thing to rely on"
My Vitamin D blood test was low, 23, I think, so my dr. has me taking 6000 IU a day. It takes a while to get the numbers up but after 6 months it was in the 50's. He said he would like it to eventually be between 75-100 since there is so much osteoporosis in my family. My cousin, aunt and mother recently got their's checked and were all equally as low. In the summer I opt to take a little less, around 4,000, but in the winter I up it to the 6,000.
My cousin takes a massive amount once a month and is usually very sensitive to supplements and medicine, but she has had no problems.
Judy - Which vitamin D test did you
have? If they didn't make it clear,
it was likely 25D. Did you also
have 1,25D tested at the same time?
I had low 25D too, but it was not from
lack of dietary intake, but rather due
to a bacteria infection (Lyme) that
consumes 25D.
If you too have such an infection, then
taking D supplements will feed these
slow-growing bacteria, and cause you
more ill health in the future.
So, be careful, and check your 1,25D
numbers at the same time as your 25D.
See http://www.marshallprotocol.com for
the details.
Steve,
What does D1,25 mean?
1,25D is one of several
forms of the vitamin.
I can't really seem to get the slides working so I can see the full page ut this looks like a really good report on the importance of Vit D:

Vitamin D is interesting stuff. It is
basically a steroid precursor.
It was after years of flailing around
trying anti-candida treatment without
success that I experimented with
vitamin D.
In repeated trials, I found that when
I started taking 1000 or 2000 IU of
vitamin D, I felt better then first
day, then worse on the days after. I'd
stop, start again, and get the same
effect.
That led me to have my vitamin D levels
tested, and the discovery that I convert
25D into 1,25D at an abnormally high
rate. According to marshallprotocol.com
this is the hallmark not of a yeast
infection but rather a bacterial
infection.
I had been thrown off track earlier
because diflucan reduced some of my
symptoms. Well, it turns out many of
the -azole meds (such as diflucan)
interfere with the vitamin D conversion.
So, the diflucan was probably reducing
my abnormally high vit D conversion,
thereby making me feel a little better.
Anyone who tries any -azole meds and
like me gets a little better, but not
fully better, should consider looking
further into their vitamin D
metabolism. marshallprotocol.com has
a boatload of details
Thats good to know. I remembered about the vitamin D (I think you posted it). I'm on diflucan right now but was planning on adding cod liver oil when I am done. Lots to think about!
