Die-Off From Cortec?

die off from thyroid and adrenal sups I recently started (3 days ago) on 5mg pf cortec and 25 mcg of a t4 sup. initially this helped and improved a sinus infection and sore throat that has been on and off since june. I can feel that the sinus is draining. I am looking pinker and the circles under my eyes are beter. However this am I am experiencing what I think is die off. low energy, body aching all over and some anxiety. I had bloating and stomach pain last night and still this am. I think that the sups have kikstarted my immune system and it is disposing of candida and sending toxins into my system - is this a reasonable analysis? otherwise why would the sinus problem be improving. I cut the dosess in half this morning and hope this helps.

Cortec?
I Googled 'cortec' to see what it is. According the Google you are taking a daily dose of rust remover. Could be that the extra iron is stimulating the Candida!

Re: Cortec?
it is an adrenal support, I must have spelled it incorrectly

Re: Cortec or CORTEF?
That sounds like it might be CORTEF you're on. If so, from what I can recall, Cortef is a catabolic steroid, and has potential hazards that you should definitely look up.

Re: Cortec or CORTEF?
You need to work out with your doctor what's going on but, if it is Cortef, see below.

Note that Cortef is for short term use and not for use in the presence of a systemic fungal infection. If you have one, it will make it worse.

Re: Cortec or CORTEF?
yes it is cortef but in a very low dose, 5 mg that should not be a problem for candida.

Re: Cortef
As I mentioned before, I think what dose, if any, of Cortef you take and its potential side effects are things you need to address with a doctor who is familiar with your overall medical situation and how it will be affected by drugs like Cortef taken systemically.

It doesn't mention doses, but as you mentioned taking Cortef if you have Candida should be okay because it's low dose Cortef, here's some of the information about Cortef from that address I posted:

Contra-Indications: Systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone or components of the tablet. tag_WarningWarnings

Corticosteroids may mask some signs of infection, and new infections may appear during their use. There may be decreased resistance and inability to localize infection when corticosteroids are used. Infections with any pathogen including viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoan or helminthic infections, in any location in the body, may be associated with the use of corticosteroids alone or in combination with other immunosuppressive agents that affect cellular immunity, humoral immunity, or neutrophil function. These infections may be mild, but can be severe and at times fatal. With increasing doses of corticosteroids, the rate of occurrence of infectious complications increases.

I also understand it's not a good idea to alter the dose of a steroid without medical supervision, or to stop taking one abruptly.

I hope you can get it sorted out.
