Urine Therapy
John - I just heard a very interesting interview with journalist John Pomfret who wrote a book on his take on China. I'm bringing this up because urine therapy is discussed in an economic, entrepeneurial context ( how the practice was turned into a business by extracting the active enzyme that tends to dissolve blood clots). If you have any interest in China this book sounds fascinating and very accessible. I think the title begins with the words "Chinese Lessons in Urine Therapy" , and it just came out.

yes thank you. very interesting for several reasons. Even in this country, drug companies are trying to understand the thousands of compounds in urine that could be made into drugs... but, they miss the real beauty of UT, and that is, your urine is specific to you... it provides biofeedback that informs your body of problems that must be addressed. I have found it to a very interesting and effective health/immune booster.
UT also has a long history in China... I lived there on and off for a few years, and though I didn't run into anyone practicing UT, I was exposed to a much broader concept of health, illness, and medical treatment than we have in the west. Chinese people, for the most part, simply don't have the money to waste on useless medical treatments and drugs like we do (although that may be changing too for people in the cities).
its really not bad honestly, i dreaded it at first, but, got over that in a day or two. now I don't even give it a second thought. have you tried it?
Thanks,
John
Your experiences living in China must have been very interesting cause it is so different than life in the west. I've done some reading on Chinese medical theory and it sure is quite different from the western model. I believe there are huge aspects of health and well-being that are better understood through Chinese medicine (though my dysbiosis has not submitted to the Chinese approaches that I've tried). At present, urine therapy lies outside the parameters of what I'm willing to try (at least at this point - and possibly to my own detriment). However, I'm curious about the way it is believed to be beneficial so I might do some looking into it. I'm glad you're finding benefit from it though. Talk to you later - .

I know where you are coming from, I was aware of UT for years before I tried to help my food intolerances. Its obviously not for everyone...but...
here are some great links, one which has a link to a story from a chinese paper:
