Nothing Wrong
Could candida or dysbiosis cause elevated ANA autoantibodies? I have read that it can disturb the immune system. I have seen many doctors and gone through many tests. It seems I don't have any rheumatoid diseases, including fibromyalgia etc. but my ANA testing shows elevated numbers (as high as titer 640).
So doctors haven't found anything wrong with me. My symptoms are: acidy stomach, tender lymph nodes under the jaw, dry eyes, can't always see properly, mucle pains, joint pains, tinnitus, shaky feeling, burning skin, weakness, flushing of face.
Am I sick because of candida and is my immune system going nuts for the same reason? I am very afraid.
Another thought: Have you had your thyroid checked thoroughly? Some of your stuff sounds maybe thyroid. ALthough tests aren't necessarily accurate.
Yes, I had elevated TSH as well -but no thyroid antobodies. Also the ultrasound was ok. So no chronic inflammation there. I took pills for that for 6 months, but the symptoms remained.
Some doctors say that I have CFS, but I believe that CFS is caused by something. Perhaps candida or amalgam, I don't know. I will remove my fillings, that's for sure. I'm also on candida diet now.
With all my symptoms an despair -they gave me paracetamol and sent home. Medical science sucks!
Hi,
I'm finding your symptoms and what you are going through to be really interesting. Your systoms sound like a combination of my son's and mine!
My son has Crohn's disease and migrating joint pains. Prior to his getting a flare-up of disease, his breath smells like metal. I haven't figured this out - except that some people refer to IBD as "metal gut". He has no amalgams. I do believe he suffers from iron-overload, as has happened previously.
The blood test for Crohn's disease shows allergy to baker's yeast and candida.
He has fatigue, insomnia, gut issues, bowel issues, joint issues, skin issues, vision issues.

I tried to chelate mercury about three plus years ago, did it incorrectly, and made myself totally sick. I have many of the symptoms you describe: severe tinnitis, dizziness, equilibrium problems (to the degree of not wanting to stand up much); TMJ, hiatal hernia, much pain under left breast - I can't tell what it is. I have acid stomach, the major middle chest flame and burning. I felt as if my blood were boiling, seriously. I have vision and hearing problems, burning skin - especially chest, back, and arms, shakiness and trembling, Brain SMOG, not FOG! I now have food allergies I didn't have before. Corn syrup is a doozie.
I believe now that fungus is a big part of my situation. I think it is in my ears and affecting my eyes to some extent. I have yeasty bm's. I'm on a product called Candidase that seems to be helping, but not enough. I get acupuncture and have done NAET treatments. I'm taking a product called Clear Tinnitis that is helping, but not enough! And I'm taking a homeopathic remedy called Taurox that was mentioned on this board. Since taking these three products, I'm doing much better and have much better energy from the Taurox. I also am using DMSO which helps me sleep better.
Similar symptoms, different origins?
Hope we all find our answers.

You doesn't seem to have typical symptoms of proteinintolerance, but it may be part of it. Anyway, if you live in Norway I can recommend this doctro in Bergen. He tries and tries until he gets to the bottom of things. Check out this website

Hi Nina,
I am so glad you found this site... I know it is scary and hard to get answers.
I had positive ANA too (not nearly as high as yours, but 1:160). In my case it was TOTALLY linked with candida. As I cleared up the candida (and mine was an extremely severe case), the ANA went negative.
Some of your symptoms seem rheumatic in nature btw (the muscle and joint pain) so I find it interesting that your doctors haven't given you any rheumatic disease labels. I can see that though if you don't meet all of the technical criteria, but I am sure there are doctors who would give you a diagnosis of fibro and arthritis anyway.
A rheumatologist diagnosed me with fibro (had 11 tender points) and inflammatory arthritis (my C3 and C4 complements were out of range).
Labels really aren't important though. The key is to get rid of underlying infections and toxicity, improve your diet and environment, get more rest, reduce stress, and correct nutritional deficiencies to return the immune system to a normal, balanced state.
So don't fret.. this CAN be reversed. It does sound to me like you have symptoms of candida.
I also suggest considering the possibility of other infections as well, esp mycoplasma. Spend some time browsing the archives of this site, its invaluable, and get a hold of these books if you can

good luck!
Thank you shari! I actually thought that nobody would answer me and that candida has really nothing to do with ANA.
It is possible that there is something else going on in my body. My doctors just do not know what it is and that's why I have to look for the answers myself.
Rheumatologist did the triggerpoint -test, nothing. X-rays show nothing. No signs of inflammation anywhere. It is simply impossible to give me a diagnosis. But with all my symptoms and the positive ANA - there is something wrong! (I also have frequently sore throat, brainfog, sometimes dizziness.) Could this be amalgam/candida -problem...?
Does anybody have a similar situation? I'll gladly hear more of them!
did this come on suddenly btw... have you been tested for or thought about lyme?
Oh, I forgot the Lyme. No I haven't been tested for Lyme...but isn't that quite impossible for me to have it all of a sudden in February - I live in Scandinavia?
Could it be anything else though?
Yes, it was mainly sudden. Here is my whole story: when my second child was 6 months old (4 years ago), I developed a bad case of urticaria. No reason found for it. It lasted for 18 months and then it cleared.
I was ok for a long while, but 1,5 years ago I felt awfully tired and my eyes were very dry. I also felt a bit depressed and my skin was quite dry and sensitive. A year ago I tasted metal in my mouth for a few days (I have only 2 amalgams). Often I felt that I have a sore throat but the expected flu never came.
BUT THEN! In the beginning of January this year, it hit me. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling terrible. I was cold and hot. My muscles felt like they were shaking. I had severe heartburn - I didn't know if it was the heart or gut burning. I just felt this flame in my middle-chest. Next day I could hardly stand up because I didn't have the strenght. I went to the doctor, nothing was found in the bloodtests (inlammation). I didn't have any fever. I had to take painkillers for my under jaw -aches and sleeping pills so that I could sleep with all that pain and trembling.
This status went on and on, for months. I am slightly better now, but I still feel sick. My stomach doesn't react right away to sugars etc. but I have noticed that my condition slowly goes to worse if I consume 'bad food'. Is his possible in candida problems?
