Candida In Your Head

I don't understand why there are so few medical professionals who are willing to take this candida situation seriously!!!! What can we do to change that? I am soooo sick of doctors looking at me with that look that says "its in your head"! And I am really sick to death of being sick!! Seriously what can we do to get this condition some attention???? And why are the majority of MDs so damn convinced that this conidtion isn't real?

THe Doctors seem to be in denial. Its probably the most common problem in their patients.


I did make it to reputedly one of UKs leading mycologists a Dr Denning ..He told me that the medical profession do know that something is going on within the general population , but he went on its just that we do not know precisely what it is , we havent a clue He did know, I spent over the twelve months or so that I was In his care a number of hours telling the taleHe ducked the issue , telling me to catch an easy jet to Spain & continue get my own medication.

Without backing from him & others like him , the average GP will not touch candida [&co-infections]

We need to make waves , its clear that until we do we be totally ignored .

One vehicle we could use is the British Candida society unfortunately Christine Tomlinson who runs it has other ideas about getting candid recognised as an endemic problem, Looks to me that Christine s tactics amount to appealing to the medical profession via the pages of the information sheets you get with the subscription I have offered to work as a political agent for the society organising a campaign to make the medics act ..my offer was declined .

The society was set up with the help from the Daily Mail , so the press are aware. Is it a case of ..with friends like Christine ,you dont need many enemies

So all you in the society ,make your views known , or If enough are interested set up a group dedicated to gaining recognition ..Any takers?

Mystery Illness?

Hi Steve , No unfortunately ,there was talk at one time of making Nysatin over the counter as it is one of the safest drugs around ..but not yet is seems ..Search international pharmacy I think they supply you need more than is quoted the study, thats if you believe Dr Cranton , which I do .. You would think Christine of the Candida Society would welcome your offer. It's really weird that she didn't. Is it a political thing? If so, why? Is it a conspiracy thing? If so, why?

Why does the medical profession ignore this? Is it because there isn't an answer? I've read some things in the Harvard Health Newsletter about fungal infections. It's the medical professions nightmare! Fungus is tenacious. Works insidiously. Destroys completely. Weapons are like throwing stones at an army tank.

Hi Pace , Im glad you like my posts.& site Im not sure why my offer was rejected or why the society is not used to mount a political campaign..I know Christine had other health problems at the time ..but surely that makes the offer of help more attractive .I would have thought there was a moral issue to run a political campaign. It doesnt sit well with me to know people are desperate , I am fortunate in having the resources to fight this , but most havent .Perhaps its her baby..dont know, perhaps Christine will tell us ..

There is an answer to Candida my symptoms left me back end of 2001 they havent returned ..Its the co-infections that are proving tenacious .The medical profession ignores this because it suits them ..They bush us under the carpet and will continue to do so until we act collectively to publicise our plight. Well mold in buildings litigation has gotten considerabel national attention in recent years. If fungus in buildings so unhealthy, then how much more difficult is it to prove that a substance which causes fungus to grow in the body (antibiotics) is detrimental to health.


They'll claim they didn't know.....or that they were only practicing the standard of medicine....

Something needs to be done, but it will take a sharp lawyer to make it happen.

There is strength in numbers.... We also need resources. Like you said, most do not have the resources to fight candida and co-infections.

I hope Christine reconsiders and accepts your offer to help.

How did you get the Candida to leave you and keep it from coming back? That's the tough part for me...to keep it from coming back. Was it through long-term AF use?

As you fight the co-infections, do you need long-term AB? IF you take AB will the Candida come back?

How is your wife doing with her asthma? Is it still gone?

Pace, Long term AFs were the answer 18 months continuous [Its all in my site] Fluconazole & Terbinafine were the systemics I used.

I do take ARBs not the full inflammatory blockade dose just a maintenance dose now The word is it takes two years of treatment , And no candida has not returned Abxs help gut function , I take it that I have pathogenic bacteria its a common condition . I think because of the immune downgrading this thing is capable of I need an immune modulator. The fact that many feel an improvement when hosting a "guest" [colds & the like] infection does fuel the argument for some sort of an immune modulator to overcome the anergy we display . I thought perhaps Interleukin-6 (IL-6) would suit , but the chances of obtaining that are slim to say the least. This maybe the answer, Also we need to know how restore Lactic acid bacteria in the gut.

I read your website awhile back. Guess I need to refresh my memory.

I think I should have been on AF for 12 months. The longest was 3 mos and it was the best I felt. However, lack of resources made it impossible to continue. When I didn't have the resources, I had the dr. When I didn't have the dr., I had the resources.. Isn't that life sometimes?

I hope you're able to get the puzzle solved with your illness.

There was a brief moment in the 80's when it almost was accepted. This is when C. Orion Truss's book, The Missing Diagnosis came out and just a little later Dr. Crook's book, The Yeast Connection came out. THen there was the flawed study that came out which supposedly "proved" nystatin didn't make any difference. The trouble was the control group taking Nystatin didn't follow a sugar-free, low carb diet. So many medical professionals reference this study. It's also listed on quackwatch.com However, no one has ever proved that it doesn't exist either. Doctors accept Candida in immunocompromised people but rarely in immunocompetent people.

If Steveuk's diagnosis of Candida had been accepted, it would have been dealt with very seriously. He would have been admitted to the hospital to the area of his greatest need, food poisoning would probably be gastroenterology or infectious diseases and then treated for both conditions.

Some people have tried to contact Oprah to have her give it some national attention. She responded once to someone that she covered this back in the 80's and even had Dr. Crook on the show. She'd been there done that already.

Polly posted something about a new study that did show Nystatin made significant improvements. Not sure why it's not making headlines....

i went into hospital for food poisoning last week, and the doctor asked me if id got any other medical problems, so i told him id got candida, needless to say he didnt believe me, he just said candida only occurs in people with aids.

Thats bull! We landed a space craft on the moon almost a half century ago, we CAN beat candida through technology. The problem is that individuals with the intelligence to do so aren't aware that this is a problem! We need to make noise. We need to let people know we are suffering. We can't just keep sitting around and taking it! As some one else said, there will be others who will end up in the same boat as us, and we owe it to them and our selves to do something!


I don't know, but it sucks telling people you have a candida problem and then seeing the look on their face. I usually make something up which ends up sounding just as crazy. Maybe someday. I have had a few people say, "oh, I've heard of that"


I also wonder why we don't hear more about Candidiasis. People look at me like I am into a secte when I try to explain my problem.
