DMPS Test
Hi Paul,
I'm not sure if you can answer this question, but here goes:
My dr. wants me to do a DMPS challenge test. However, I've read the horror stories and am not sure I should do it.1. Mercury and heavy metals attach to sulfhydryl groups. Poor sulfoxcidation is often present when there is mercury posoning. There is often a weak PST enzyme of the liver which attaches sulfates to toxins to prepare them for disposal.
2. Sulfates are low because mercury poisoning causes the kidney to excrete sulfates. Also, with mercury poisoning, the intestines are irritated. The intestinal irritation causes the loss of sulfates too.
My organic acids test shows that I am LOW in sulfate. It is 112 and should be greater than 180.
This seems to indicate mercury poisoning in me if I am understanding all of this correctly.
Polly is concerned DMPS challenge can dump very large amounts of mercury out through the kidneys during the first 6 hours. She says this can send a person to the hospital with kidney failure. She says you never know how much will come out with one of those challenges.
What are you thoughts about this?
Pace , I wouldnt say I am experienced enough to give an in-depth reply ..but the procedure does look dicey ,you could consider DMSA as an alternative ..the depletion of minerals as with the inability to metabolise metals is a feature of chronic gut based infection ..Its not much use in treating the metal toxicity in isolation .... Skin problems can indicate stressed kidneys ..when the kidneys are under pressure the body switches to removing toxins via the skin , or sometimes the molecules are too large as in leaky gut for the kidneys to process Read Dr Cranton in the first website ..as you know he is also a yeast guru..hope this helps ..Paul

Thanks Paul that helps.

My OAT test showd elevate levels for Intestinal Dysbiosis for fungal/yeast markers. Bacterial markers were within range.>>Its not much use in treating the metal toxicity in isolation .... I get skin rashes as side effects for script meds. Anything in the narcotic/opiate families. Also things like ibuprofen, aspirin, aleve tear up my stomach and give me jumpy legs... I thought this was a liver pathway problem, but maybe it is actually kidney processing problem.

Thanks for the reminder about Dr. Cranton. I forgot about him. I do continue to deal with yeast issues, metals and probably Lyme, too.
The low sulfate surprised me. I just recently found out it's relationship to mercury poisoning. It's amazing how our bodies work.
Thanks again.
