Kombucha Tea
Nobody has tried this? Supposed to help candida infection. I'm giving it a shot.
I tried it once. Worked great at first, then the critters developed immunity.
i'm interested to hear how you do
with it
Hello, well, it tastes way to sweet to be legal on the candida diet, but I did quite a bit of research and it's supposed to be good. I hate the thought of feeding the yeast with another product that sets me back. (like the kefir did)
Mmmm yeah. I just looked it up and it contains sugar. That's too bad. . .
San, check out this site www.nutrition4life.org There's some pretty impartial information on there about it. Even though it's made with sugar, the bacteria use it up in the fermentation process. The 16 ounce bottle I buy called "GT's Kombucha" only has 4 grams of sugar in it, or so they say. I've tried to call the company in CA to inquire about the actual sugar content, but no one has called me back yet.
Thanks! I will do that.
I don't drink it (never got around to it) but I understand that if you make it yourelf, you can ferment all the sugar out. fyi.
Hi John, that was my thought also. The brand I buy has been fermented for 30 days compared to the usual 15, so I'm hoping there isn't much sugar content left. I wish they would call me back so I could find out for sure.
Brett-
is the stuff you buy pasteurized? if so, does that hurt its effectiveness? if not, couldn't you somehow ferment it longer after you buy it? just thoughts....'
John, no, it's not pasteurized, and it probably could be fermented longer. However, the company called me back today and they maintain the claim that it only has 4 grams of sugar in 16 ounces. Hard for me to believe but they said it was tested by a lab. I still think it's too sweet for me. Much like apple cider vinegar.
brett - where do you buy it from?
One of the health food stores near me carries it. You can call this number 877-rejuice, or check out their website for distributors. www.gtskombucha.com
