Restless Legs

Restless Legs
I am unable to tolerate Epsom Salt baths due to them making me feel weak/shakey, so i am trying Magnesium Sulfate Cream from Kirkmans. I have used it for the last four days, i use 1/5 of the suggested dose, i rub it into my hip. For the last two nights i cannot sit still due to restless legs, i also feel VERY agitated, like i am going to explode, i HAVE to keep moving my legs constantly. I just CANT SIT STILL! it only happens when i put my feet up on the settee, when i get up and move around i feel fine again. This has happened before, at Christmas when i tried mag sulfate cream and at the time i blammed it on the Histidine i was using, i also had awfull hip/lower back pain where i rubbed the cream in, it hurt to put weight on it. I dont have any varicose veins. Does anyone else have restless legs?

Re: Restless Legs
Have you tried folic acid? It comes in small doses so you have to take about for or so. Maybe more...experiment! Folic acid is the usual cure for restless legs.

I have been dealing with this for years and have to take this reguarly or I am terribly uncomfortable.

Re: Restless Legs
Hi Ann

I suffer with this at times. My legs get hot too and the only way I can get relief is to stick them in a bath full of cold water. I have noticed that the recurrance of my restless legs is when I lower my dose of magnesium. Provided I keep taking high levels I am ok. I dont think that helps much with why the Magnesium Sulphate cream would have that effect on you. I have been wondering about trying some of that Kirkmans cream but I noticed it contained some chemicals (?) Are you using it to try and get some sulphate? Hope you are doing better nowadays - you have worked so hard to regain your health.

Re: Restless Legs
Hi Amanda,

Thanks, i have been taking Kirkmans Magnesium Glycinate for a year now, but even so, i am sure i am still low on Magnesium, i will try taking it on an evening to see if it helps, as this is when the restless legs play up. How long have you been taking the Magnesium? i have been using the same brand for a year now, i wonder if that is okay?

I am using the Magnesium Sulphate Cream to get Sulphate as i know when i tested last year it was very low.

How are you doing?

Ann

Re: Restless Legs
Hi Ann. I am still chipping away - thanks for asking! Diet, Liver support, vits, minerals - occasional antifungals and probiotics. Very slow going.

I am not convinced my own magnesium levels have gone up a great deal with taking magnesium glycinate (12 months approx too) - but some things have improved so perhaps its doing a little bit. I may get my red cell levels checked shortly - orginally they were very low. I really dont know how long it is safe to take a particular brand of magnesium - I plan to continue with it - and taking two capsules before bed does help relieve those restless legs.

Best Wishes Ann

Amanda
