Azithromycin
Hello, it's me again. A follow-up to my (already fading) thread:
Could Candida have been helped by my use of Azithromycin? I had a bad case of the flu and the doc gave me Azithromycin, twice (I had to take it once a week, for two weeks, 1000mg). That was at the end of September. After that I had about 2-3 weeks of extreme stress/anxiety and couldn't eat (which caused dry mouth and weight loss).
Also I read somewhere that if I have had longer antibiotic treatment, Candida overgrowth can usually be experienced after 2 years. About 2 years ago I took doxicycline (sp?) for about 3 weeks.
It may sound strange, but finding out this is Candida, and that other people have it too, would actually make me feel so much better.
Oh, also, can Candida cause sore-ish throat (although doesn't quite hurt, just feels... obstructed a bit), and can the glands around my ears swell from it?
THANKS for your help and for tolerating long posts from an uninformed person like me. I hope someone will answer and help me. Now I will go take my probiotic.
Nicola, I would say yes. My candida symptoms appeared slowly over years, but I thought it was my hypoglycemia causing all these strange problems. So, I kept feeding myself sugar and fruit which was just feeding the yeast. I had gotten almost incapacitated. Bedridden for four days at a time. Candida cost me four years of my life and thousands of dollars. How old are you? What other symptoms do you have and for how long? p.s. candida can cause just about any symptom you can imagine and even ones you can't imagine.
Oh, forgot to answer the age question. I am 23, male.
My symptoms appeared recently and suddenly. As I have mentioned, I went through a lot of stress and anxiety, which lead to my not eating almost anything for about 2 weeks. That's when I saw the white tongue. I started brushing it and now it feels raw, like I ate something hot. I had diarrhea, and I can't decide whether it's due to anxiety or to Candida. It could be candida, since I had BAD gas after I had some wine the other day. I think the probiotic is helping with that, as well as the diet. I mentioned the dry skin on my hands... Also I think my glands around my neck may be swollen (it's probably due to tongue and throat irritation). Sometimes I get hot flashes, or so I think. And very often my hands are really cold (then again it could be due to the fact that during the past 2 years I have gone from 115kg to 82kg with Atkins and sport, which also made my blood pressure go down).
I think that is all. It's definitely enough to freak me out, I mean it has happened over about 2 weeks. The one main thing that worried me is the white, raw tongue - I can't see how it could be anything else... So that's that. What do you think?
