Bad Dreams

Bad Dreams
I have been eating only meat, fish and vegetables for three days. I am having endless bad dreams all night (at least it seems that way)...is this a symptom of die-off?

Re: Bad Dreams
During years of experimenting with
various treatments, only two things
have caused a marked increase in
dreaming for me: taking MSM, and
removing vitamin D from my diet.

Re: Bad Dreams
Wow how strange, I was just telling someone about all the weird vivid dreams I've been having lately also.. Hmm maybe theres something going on with the planets right now, Or maybe we are all getting a for us in a our dreams..
I've been doing a pretty strict diet and taking nizoral for a few weeks now and the dreams started after I began the nizoral so it could be the release of toxins and die-off.. Who knows, I hope it means it's working.

Re: Bad Dreams
I had these too! Never really thought about it until you posted this. When I started the diet I started getting nasty vivid dreams every night and I had not had a dream i could remember for years prior to that! They wore off again after a couple of weeks though and I haven't had any since ( it's been 6 months now).

Re: Bad Dreams
I don't see why 3 days of eating meat, fish and vegetables would cause die-off. More likely the dreams are caused by lack of carbohydrates and lowered blood glucose levels
Re: Bad Dreams
I think three days is more than enough time to start killing candida. I've noticed die-off symptoms the next day after following the diet strictly.

Re: Bad Dreams
You're assuming that removing Carbohydrates from your diet causes Candida to die but according to the research (Mycosen des Verdauungstraktes - Prof. Nolting), budding yeast in the gut switch phenotype to hyphae producing fungus when deprived of sufficient carbohydrate.

Re: Bad Dreams
Steve, I don't question that fact, however, the yeast in my body still dies off from restricting carbs. I'm lucky in a way, because I can see the die-off by watching my skin. If I eat too many carbs, the skin breaks out, restrict the carbs and the skin clears and I feel better. The problem is, when I reach a certain point, I can tell the yeast adapts to less. That's the million dollar question, how to kill it for good. I don't know if it's possible.

Re: Bad Dreams
Hi Brett,

Increase carbohydrates and you increase the rate of mitosis (division) of the Candida i.e the yeast multiplies more rapidly

Stress the yeast by depriving it of nutritional sources of carbon and it will switch phenotype and become more invasive.

Check this website for a diagram of a very simple yeast. Candida is a lot more sophisticated in that it can form a third phenotype, a mycelia producing fungus that invades the body's tissues in search of glucose

http://www.phys.ksu.edu/gene/a1.html

Specifically "When yeast are nutritionally stressed, for example by deprivation of either a carbon source or a nitrogen source, diploid yeast will sporulate. The diploid nucleus goes through meiosis, producing four haploid nuclei which are then incorporated into four stress-resistant ascospores, encapsulated in the ascus(see Figure 1).

Dieting without first killing off the majority of the yeast with an antifungal is dangerous and will turn the Candida yeast into a far more invasive fungus.

In your case, feeding or starving the yeast is simply increasing or decreasing its metabolic rate, so it produces more or less toxins, reflected by the condition of your skin.

Candida is a very sophisticated organism that adapts very quickly to nutritional deficit. Starve it and it will eventually form spores that will leave the intestine altogether to invade other organs organs rich in blood supply and therefore rich in the nutrients the candida needs

Re: more on carbs
Steve have you a link to the paper , looks like a good read I agree 100% with you on the complications that come with restricting carbs The rule must be; Cut way back on refined sugar & get your carbs from other sources Paul
This extract from German publications. Source British Candida Society, Candida Digest. Puts the diet into context
Do NOT attempt to treat a gut yeast overgrowth by diet and supplements alone, ie without effective anti-fungal medication.
German doctors emphasise that it is not possible to starve out the yeasts. They have observed that although patients may feel better initially whenever they first begin a very strict low carbohydrate diet, these same patients have a much hard time later on if/when they relapse than they ever did at first. Their explanation is that Candida Albicans has the ability to convert its metabolism from carbohydrate to protein whenever its favourite food source becomes limited. At this stage. Candida becomes parasitic and lives off the host - that is, it forms an invasive infection within the mucus membrane tissue of the bowel wall itself.

This article would seem to add weight to the argument

Re: more on carbs
Now what do you consider an effective antifungal? I am rotating "oil of oregano, garlic, and pau d'arco". Is this effective enough along with the no-sugar diet, vitamins and amino acids?

Re:Paul, this happened to me
Paul,

this is exactly what happened to me! I was definitely worse off and wished I'd done the diet/supplement/AF thing differently. Sequence is important!

Re: more on carbs
Really? So I am not doing the right thing my eating just meant, fish and vegetables....there is so much conflicting information...it is very frustrating to say the least!!!!!

Re: more on carbs
Gala, you are doing exactly the right thing. Keep it up and the candida will die-off. You may try anti-fungals to help kill them off, if you can handle it, but IMO the diet is the most effective weapon.

Re: Bad Dreams Yes, I have awfull vivid dreams, i get a run of them for around a week, then they go away again untill the next time.

Re: Bad Dreams
Do you have any other unusual symptoms at night, particularly upon waking from the dreams?

Re: Bad Dreams
No, I don't usually wake from them...but I can vivdly recall them when I wake up. I do toss and turn when trying to get to sleep and then I sleep soundly until early morning.

Re: Bad Dreams
Yes. You should hear some of the dreams I have on bad nights.

Re: Bad Dreams
Is this a result of an overload of toxins on the liver?

Re: Bad Dreams
Gala, yes, I think so. I toss and turn all night sometimes.
