Hair Loss Questions

Need hair opinions - barking up wrong tree?
It's been nearly 4 years since I started this "journey". The catalyst was my hair. When I was 15 years old, it was pointed out that my hair was getting really thin on top. I had diffuse thinning, similar to female pattern. Back then I simply saw a derm who said he didn't know what it was and thought it was MPB. I took it pretty badly, but over time it just didn't add up. I was just too young to be experiencing that type of hair loss AND my family in general doesn't have a lot of hair loss. My dad started losing in his mid 50's, same with grandfather on mother's side, but literally every other male in my family has kept a completely full head of hair into their 90's! My uncles on both sides have full heads of hair now in their 60's. My brother is 40 and no sign of ANY hair loss.

So, I thought, well either I got dicked over in the genetics department (which is possible, but for it to start at 15???) or there's something wrong with my system.

At age 19 I began exploring what could be wrong. I went to a holistic doctor. I found out I had high levels of metals, leaky gut syndrome, and adrenal fatigue. I later found out from another doctor that I have Lyme. I may have been harboring it for a long time since my symptoms started at a very young age and became markedly more prominent around 15 (coincidence?).

So, I've been doing what I can.

Lately I've been thinking about the hair connection. My hair hasn't seemed to gotten any worse since I started this. Maybe a tiny bit, I can't really tell. My hairline hasn't a changed a bit and isn't bad at all. I'd say it's about average for someone in their 20's. It doesn't bother me at all, it's the density that bothers me. The diffuse thinning on top.

I wonder if I'm expecting too much by getting all this density back when I'm "cured". I still don't know if I need to supplement thyroid, I need to work on my adrenals, I need to get all the metals out, and I need to take care of the Lyme and co-infections. Even though I've been fighting this for this long, there's still so much to do.

What do you all think? Am I making the correct connection between my conditions and my hair? Should I expect the density to return when I'm "healthy"?

Hey Ro

Some folks on Lyme Strategies claim their hair is fuller or ecomes wavy on c-salt.

I lost a lot of hair till I started chlorella.

Also we use sulfur to detox so perhaps if you have metals, lyme etc there is not enough t go around. Are you treating the lyme/metals now?

Hey Ro

*please* let us know how it goes. I am on the yahoo group and there are nearly 600 folks and now less people are talking aout thier experiences. I totally understand why: it takes a lot of effort ut it sure helps to get through it.

I am aout to hit a 6 month mark and will post aout it soon after.

Rob,

Heard of a woman who lost all her hair including eyebrows and eyelashes at age 28. She was put on a long course of Nizoral and her hair all came back. I know this is only anecdotal, but she didn't mind that her hair grew back.
