Acne
My acne really gets me down every time it flares up - I can't figure out what I'm doing to aggravate it! One day it's not too bad and then the next I have an outbreak. It makes me feel ugly and really undermines my confidence. Has anyone got any successful remedies they can suggest?
When I did my first cleanse much of my acne cleared up. Now when I get an occasional outbreak I use a drop of pure undiluted oregano oil. This clears it up faster than antibiotic cream. Don't use around the eyes or on mucous membranes. Available in a small bottle w/ a dropper from North American Herb and Spice Company. It is also great for a gum infection if you can tolerate the heat sensastion. Their web site is below.

I find that keeping my colon cleansed by using soil based probiotics helps. You might also want to try eating spirulina and/or flax see oil daily. The fatty acids in them have a slightly estrogenic effect which counteracts the testosterone that causes acne. They also help reduce inflammation. Do a search on flax seed oil and acne and you'll see what I mean. I have acne too and it's been considerably better since I started the flax seed oil, spirulina and soil based probiotics.
are like a slow and benign colonics.
A short treatise on bowel function and therapy. The bowel has a muscular wall consisting of eight layers. When it is impacted with old and or new fecal matter it becomes atonic (without normal tone or strenght and sluggish). As a result of poor bowel function due to reduced peristaltic action (a wave like action consisting of contraction and relaxation of the bowel wall that moves the contents through the bowel) results in poor colon function. The bowel like any muscle in the body needs stimulation to function properly. The purpose of colonic irrigation is to remove the encrustion and impaction and to restore, by stimulation, peristaltic action to aid the bowel to return to normal peristalsis (peristaltic function), thus allows the bowel to carry out all its functions. This requires the skill and knowledge of a very experienced therapist. Recycled toxins in fecal matter can affect every part of the body. Colonics need to be given until thoroughly clear at each session to be effective.

I do not have that problem, but I am sure it is very frustrating. Sometimes zinc supplements seem to be helpful, 60 to 90 mg a day. But it only works if you have a zinc deficiency.
But..zinc really boosts fertility in men..just a heads up :)
Thanks, Marilyn. Anything's worth a go!
KP are you constipate? Poor bowel function is a cause of acne. The skin is one of the excretory organs when the bowel is atonic. The on and off eruptions are indicative poor bowel function. Your bowel most likely need flushing until clear.
Thanks for the response.
No, not constipated at all. I've had a few colonics lately as well, so should be quite well cleansed.
I'm taking Threelac at the moment and wonder if I'm having die-off. How do you know? I've had a dull headache for about a week now and have started to get some symptoms back to a small extent that I'd controlled through diet. I've done nothing to make them flare up again, so do you think the treatment is working?

If you have been receiving short colonics (45 to 60 minute) they are not clearing your colon therefore you are recycling toxics from the residual left in your colon which cause your acne to repeatedly break out. This is more likely your problem. The colonic treatment has to clear your colon from cecum to the anus each time the treatment is rendered. This total clearing time can take from 1-1/2 to as long as 3 hours the 1st time. The time shortens with each colonic but the 1st one needs to be done until totally clear and each time thereafter. The time element to accomplice the total cleansing varying with each individual. Eventually the acne should clear from my experience with this problem.
Not sure who would perform such a long colonic. My colonic person only went for an hour. But the tube would run clear for a good while before she shut it off. I was under the impression that only so much at a time will exit. Interesting :-).
Thanks for the advice. The trouble with all these treatments is that they're so expensive! I'll talk to my colon hydrotherapist about it though.
Colonics is veery controversial and mamny people thinks it is dangerous because all intestinal flora bad and good disappears. Not alle the bacteria we have inside can be replaced with probiotica.
If I were you I would chose fermented vegetables and eat it for three weeks beora trying such a drastic measure as colonics. vegetables are cheap too.
Tove, The intestinal flora does not disappear and colonics are not dangerous.
I hope you guys won't mind me chirping in but I found this debate very interesting. Like many here, I have been extremely ill over the years with candida, and I had a lot of colonics done about three years ago. My experience was that at first the colonics were VERY helpful. Not that I felt any better mind you. But I was very toxic and still am to some degree ( been fighting this for years ). They removed enormous amounts of old stuff that had been storing up for years. My colonic lady said I was the worst case she had ever seen! lol.
What seemed to happen was that after a time my bowels began to move on thier own a bit ( they did NOT at all for years! ) but after I had several series of them ( 6 in a series ) they stopped moving at all and I felt sicker. So I am wondering also if like most things, moderation could be the key?? If I had not had them done I fear I would be near death now as I was very congested and suffered serious constipation issues ( muscle pain, etc., etc ). Nothing really restored my bowel function though until I found cultured veggies. I am slowly healing :-).
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what do you mean by cultured veggies?
I think you're probably right about things helping in moderation. I don't think that I've been worse since not having a colonic for a while, so I guess they're not really proving that beneficial to me. It's hard to know what to do for the best!
They're fermented veggies :-). You can make your own or you can buy them already cultured ( sauerkraut is cabbage but you can buy/make others as well ). I am having major die off today after I ran out for the past few days! They really have worked miracles for me. I have a ways to go yet but I'm praying they will finally restore my gut flora that antibiotics destroyed.
