Treating Lyme & Candida with Salt/C

~Salt/C & Cat's Claw Hi,

I just heard a Lyme Advocate from TX saying on the program, Living Smart, that Salt/C is limited in help & very dangerous. She also said Cat's Claw doesn't work!

I expect this kind of reaction from someone who doesn't believe in Chronic Lyme, but not from a Lyme advocate? I know she wants to return to her IV antibiotics--the insurance co. stopped paying. I don't think she should discredit these alternatives. I know some here have used them with good success.

Re: Salt/C & Cat's Claw pace,

i would suggest going on the Lyme Strategies newsgroup to get a sense of what people are *actually* doing and experiencing. While there are some amazing sucess stories, I do think there not as many as I would like BUT I find it rare that people report horror stories... And this is one thing that has kept me going, not to mention that I personally have had some great periods with it too.

I think it is worth anyone's while doing c-salt to be on the forum most dedicated to it. I think people are pretty honest there and like I said, while things may be a little too optimistic, I am sure people would be reporting awful side effects but they are not. The main thing is to have a proper detox protocol (I am doing tons of coffee-e and they help a ton, chlorella, milk thistle, sam-e) and take minerals!!!!

In fact since my vomiting spell, I have felt fantastic... I hope it continues!

Re: Salt/C & Cat's Claw Thanks "b",

Hmmm, is vomiting a new detox protocol??? ;-) I say that in jest. ;-)

I appreciate you honesty about it. I've learned by now that there is no "magic bullet" for Lyme or Candida and it's probably something we will always have to keep an eye on, even after we are better.

I've heard heavy metals can be used to kill Spirochetes. Although in times past they sometimes killed the patients, too. Perhaps this is why our bodies are harboring metals. Our bodies are amazing things and I wouldn't be surprised. When I think of all the transactions the red blood cell performs, it boggles my mind. It's equivalent to a man being shot out of a cannon and having to write the Lord's prayer in full on the way out! Our red blood cells are constantly at work doing things we aren't even aware of. So much to learn!

Re: Salt/C & Cat's Claw HI Pace,

I have found that alot of the lyme community thinks that salt/c is worthless. In fact a person that I have know for along told me I was crazy to try it. Glad I didn't listen to her. But as b said check out the lymestratiges group. These are the people that can help you if you have a problem and you can get the feel of the group by reading the messages like here.

I am now 1 1/2 years into to it and am doing pretty good. I have a problem with candida and thyroid. that I am dealing with now. Had a sinus infection last week and had to go on antibiotics. A z-pack and had NO herx at all. I couldn't believe it. I think it was the first time in years. I have a bit of pain in my jaw, but it isn't bad.

So stay the course and go slow.

Re: Salt/C & Cat's Claw Thanks Rue,

I appreciate your sharing your experience with it, too. Why do you suppose the majority of the Lyme community has such a low opinion of the Salt/C?

Re: Salt/C & Cat's Claw i think the lyme community is very fractured.. and one obvious one is between those that stay with traditional abx, taking a cocktail for years and those that delve into alternative treatments.

and as far as alternative treatments, let's face it, c-salt just sounds weird as anything! i knew of it at least a year before i started taking it and dinot because i did not know of other taking it. now there are over 1000 members on LS, which i think is no small minority either..

but yea, it is going to get a lot of bad reactions as it strikes as strange...

Re: Salt/C & Cat's Claw B,

I never thought about the Lyme community being fractured, but it's an abt description. I 've seen it here and there. It always takes me by surprise.....

Tuesday I will double my Salt/C dose from 1/4tsp RS & Vit. C to either 1/4tsp RS w/C 2x a day or else 1/2 tsp RS w/C 1x a day. Which one do you think is the better way to go? My goal is to do it very slowly.
