Probiotics & SBO
Both my boyfriend and I remedied chronic constipation using Garden of Life's Primal Defense. It took about 2 months of taking a very low dose of 2 daily. Follow the instructions to gradually increase the dose to prevent a sudden die off. I'm taking it now for a severe intestinal overgrowth. It has been very effective for helping repopulate the intestinal bacteria and dislodge intestinal debris. While this is only a part of the protocol I'm using, I am very pleased with this probiotic. I'm currently using the new stronger Primal Defense Ultra. When I clear up the current intestinal overgrowth I plan to stay on one of the regular Primal Defense as a daily preventive measure.
As this is the only probiotic I've ever used I don't have a basis for comparison. I liked the claim that because of how Primal Defense is made it is sturdier than some probiotics.
Deep discounts on internet supplement sites.

Mattie and Mary,I think the soil based organisms can be great for an initial change in the intestinal environment. However, I think you should really add in other normal probiotics as well. You don't want an overgrowth of soil based probiotics in your intestines. Soil based organisms are not part of the normal flora. Long term use of Primal Defense has been very bad for some people. A doctor told me that one person in Italy died from using soil based organisms.
I know that there are other probiotic organisms in Primal Defense, but these are very low dose --- not enough to make a difference --- more of a marketing addition than a therapeutic addition in my opinion.
i agree... PD seems good for many at first but long term it seems to 'go bad'
