Probiotics Irradiation
I want to order probiotics from the US to Canada. The supplier uses Fedex. Does anyone know what Fedex's policy is wrt irradiation ?
Fedex irradiates as well. UPS is the only one that doesn't. There used to be documentation on the web that showed that the gov't bought xray equipment for Fedex but some how that disappeared. This is a huge issue as irradiation destroys many supplements and causes mold to grow on foods (as well as destroying the nutritional value). Many perishable foods are transported via air freight and most distributors use Fedex as they are cheaper. Surprised there isn't more awareness of this issue.
Thanks. I asked Harry of Custom Probiotics if Fedex (he uses Fedex for shipping his pro's) irradiated the probiotics and he said they do not. Have you had this discussion with him ? Maybe Fedex doesn't irradiate everything - ??? I ordered his probiotics today based on his response.
My doctor has verified thru lab tests that Fedex does irradiate and they will still deny it. Even when pkgs were clearly marked 'organic federal law prohibits irradiation' they still irradiated them (apparently the current administration has selectively decided which laws they will enforce and this is not one of them). Many companies also deny it because it is cheaper to use Fedex. You can get test strips from Germany that will turn a diiferent color when a package has been irradiated and these also show Fedex irradiates.
You might want to call up FedEx and ask. What I heard a while back is that only the US post office is radiating packages.
