Probiotics & Candida

Oh, Polly! What do you think was the turning point in your recovery from candida? Did you take tons of anti-fungals and probotics?

I wish I knew how much recovery I have made. I know the nutritional supplements are helping me greatly and I cannot stop them yet. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I am now allergic to the top 8 food allergans. I wasn't when I started this diet?????

In general, I didnt take a lot of anti-fungals and I didn't use probiotics. I did use some garlic and Taheebo for about a year. Raw butter is an antifungal. I used that. I dont think there was any one major turning point. Everything was so gradual, and lots of different things helped.

>I am now allergic to the top 8 food allergans. I wasn't when I started this diet?????

I am sorry to hear that. NAET may be of some help.

>I know diet alone is not the answer as have been following this diet for several years. I think the heavy metals are at the heart of this problem. I take tons of anti-fungals and have taken anti-biotics in the past to kill the bacteria but it doesn't work and I don't think I will even have he CDSA test again as I don't want to take anymore anti-biotics. I may try Custom Probotics.

It is definitely worth a try. Have you done a parasite cleanse? You should do that before using the probiotics.

Re: to Polly probiotics or Liz/anybody
Polly, In your statement to do a parasite cleanse before taking probiotics, do you mean in any case? I have been taking culturelle for a few years and just found out they have fos in them(or maybe it was inulin). I have the h-pylori bug and have been trying to decide what to take for it. I am now trying zinc-carnosine. There is something called pyloricin which has oil of oregano, cloves, and maybe wormwood. Sherry Rogers names a few things in her book, like lactoferrin. Lactoperoxidase is also supposed to be good. I think they are both in colostrum. She says if the things she named didn't work she still would not take the antibiotics. I feel the same way but everything I study has some confusion. L. Salivarius is supposed to be really good for ulcers and B. infantis is supposed to be really good for IBS, which I need help with badly. I am thinking of making some sauerkraut and maybe some yogurt. Sometimes I think maybe I'd better just give in and take the antibiotics, but they also have prevacid in the package and I really don't understand the logic of that since I have heard that low stomach acid is the problem in the first place. So, do I need to take a parasite cleanse before trying any new probiotics? I also wonder if anyone knows if Allergy Research is a good company for probiotics. They have one that has 2 billion CFUs of L.Salivarius plus two other kinds.
I probably should have made this a new post. I just saw you mention probiotics and did a spur of the moment . I appreciate anything anyone has to offer on this. Thanks.

Hi Patsy,

>, In your statement to do a parasite cleanse before taking probiotics, do you mean in any case?

Leo Galland, MD has stated that probiotics may increase the growth of amoebic parasites. So, at the very least, you would want to address these first.

>I have been taking culturelle for a few years and just found out they have fos in them(or maybe it was inulin).

For some people the FOS is good. You might try a different product without the FOS and see if you do better. Besides, it is best to rotate the types of probiotics that you use. It has a stronger effect on your immune system if you start and stop a particular probiotic.

>I have the h-pylori bug and have been trying to decide what to take for it.

There are lots of things that might help, but I dont know which is best. Since Sherry Rogers recommends Pyloricidin, then Id definitely try that immediately. She says two pills a day for 2-4 weeks. If that doesnt do it, Id probably keep taking the Pyloricidin and add in several more things that help get rid of H. pylori. Here are some other things: vitamin C, mastic gum, grapefruit seed extract, deglycerolized licorice, bismuth (Pepto-Bismol), Active Manuka honey, sulforaphane glucosinolate from broccoli sprouts, magnesium, zinc (especially zinc carnosine), N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) and monolaurin.

I noticed that there are two products on the internet with almost the same name, Pyloricidin by Tyler and Pyloricin by Pharmax. They contain totally different ingredients. The Tyler product contains mastic gum, garlic extract and lactoferrin. The Pharmax product contains oregano oil, clove oil, ginger and wormwood. Since Sherry Rogers recommended the product by Tyler, Id probably try that before anything else. . She didnt mention anything about the Pharmax product. >Sometimes I think maybe I'd better just give in and take the antibiotics

The antibiotics dont always work. Neither do these natural products. Id try all the natural products first. Use a combination of them, or rotate them.

>but they also have prevacid in the package and I really don't understand the logic of that since I have heard that low stomach acid is the problem in the first place.
It sure does seem contradictory. The H. pylori secretes something to protect itself from the surrounding stomach acid. The stomach acid would kill it. I assume the prevacid is in the package to lower the stomach acid just because stomach acid would irritate an ulcer. However, if you dont need to take the prevacid, I certainly wouldnt take it. The stomach can become quite sensitive to its acid after having taken such a product for a long time. So a person may have trouble stopping such a product.

>So, do I need to take a parasite cleanse before trying any new probiotics?

At least take some things to knock down the ameobic population.

>I also wonder if anyone knows if Allergy Research is a good company for probiotics. They have one that has 2 billion CFUs of L.Salivarius plus two other kinds.

In general, I like Allergy Research products. However, 2 billion CFUs of L. Salivarius probably isnt enough to do anything helpful for someone with severe dysbiosis. Look at Custom Probiotics. www.customprobiotics.com They use much higher doses.

Polly, Thanks so much for your reply. I have printed it out to help me decide exactly what to do. If I have any more questions, I will start a new thread. I really appreciate your sharing of knowledge. You amaze me. Thanks.
