Lyme Metals
Hi friends,I just found out that my Western Blot shows positive for Lyme and some co-infections: Epstein Barr, Mycoplasma, CMV.
So, it seems I've finally found the underlying cause to the yeast problem.
There's probably a metals problem, too.
So is treatment first Lyme, Yeast & then Metals?
Lyme, Metals, Yeast? I know it's treating yeast exclusively is not the answer.
I dread starting Lyme treatment. Things will get worse before they can get better. I must keep my eyes focused on the end result. This also explains why I had such a bad reactiont to the Salt/C protocol.
Biella, if you read this, could you repost exactly how to do it? I really appreciate it. I'll also need some links to some sites and articles.
Thanks!
Merry Christmas to each of you and I hope the New Year brings new answers and hope for all of us.
Grace
Wow grace, very interesting!
I gotta run, but merry xmas :)
I tested positive for many things with my first major experience with candida. Upon taking those tests to an infectious disease doctor at Cleveland Clinic, they all were blown off...including the positive result for Lyme. I even had reason to believe Lyme was a factor because my mother had been treated for the "bullet" marker for Lyme, I'd been bit by a tick that was on a neighbor's lamb(not the deer tick variety, though), and my dad was a conservation officer where I was around deer and other wild critters as the norm. Recalled having a tiny tick on me shortly before being ill. Never treated for lyme specifically nor did I end up swatting at every fly named disease "symptom"...a later doctor did focus on candida with Nizoral but the turn around was cleanse and support. If I did have a true lyme infection(was told that positives are often false), it was then handled by my body being set aright.
Here is one plant source that has been tested by Upjohn Pharmaceuticals as effective against Lyme Disease. http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:XpG9BvZZiHgJ:health.benabraham.com/html/the_miracle_of_the_olive_leaf.html+olive+leaf+extract+lyme+disease&hl=en
Take care as you get to the root! :-)
Hi Joyce,
In my heart of hearts, I'm thinking it is yeast. The symptoms match more closely, however, I've been treating yeast for 15 years. Some years more aggressively than others. I always feel So much better when the yeast is under control however, there must be an underlying cause as to why I cannot get healed. Lyme appears to be the answer. I am not looking forward to treating it because it will flare the candida. I don't know if it will cause it to flare to a point of no return, but something's got to be done to get me off this merry go round. When you pray, ask God to direct me to the right medical/naturopathic LLMD specialists and course of treatment. I've got limited resources and need to use them wisely. Wisdom is another prayer request. I'm reminded once again that it's only by His grace I'm here at all.
Thanks,
I have heard that there are only false negatives and not false positivesa. It is possible that your body was able to fight off lyme easier than others. I have heard of families testing for lyme and everyone having it and yet different to some degree with their symptoms
It was an infectious disease head of department that told me there are false positives. It was quite defeating to me at the time to hear that news, thinking treatment could head me toward feeling better, in addition to the other infections I had tested positive for(haemophilus, EBV, Lyme, and oodles of nasties revealed by stool testing). I was told by a doctor later that his tests indicated I should be tested further for an immune system deficiency, had low cortisol, blood pH was off, along with the candida infection breaking the barrier to my kidneys(Cleveland Clinic had operated on me and discovered endometriosis, too...will never forget them repeatedly yelling at me in recovery to breathe ...BREEEEEEEEEATHE...because my lung function was so suppressed that I kept setting off the oxygen concentration monitor)...so can't say my body was in a position to be fighting much better than anyone else would. I'd say I was blessed to have it all unfold in a positive direction when I think back to just how bad it all really was.
hey pace
sorry to hear although it IS GOOD TO KNOW and you can proceed with treatment which will get you etter. Now I am entering my 7 month on c-salt and I have more faith that if it is not a cure it can significantly help. I have long periods feeling pretty normal with powerful monthly herxes which demonstrates it is doing its jo.
So in terms of treatment start with c-salt and don't worry aout metals right now. I actually think that c-salt helps chelate indirectly or directly which is why my palms turned so yellow for the first 4 months of treatment and why I needed TONS of chlorella. I now use chlorella less frequently, some days taking none even though I am at my full dose. I really need a lot less which is amazing.
So start with the c-salt and take some high quality chlorella to mop up the toxins, whether they e lyme or metals.
I would go to this site and read the links section:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lymestrategies/links
It will give you the instructions you need.
Also START SLOW and I mean stay on 1 gram a day for a month if need e. That is, if you are herxing hard. It took me over 4 months to get to 8 grams a day ecause I herxed so hard the first 1.5 months. Then I was sort of ok till the 3rd month when I had a pretty extended herx and then the 6 month was stiff ut not horrile.
I am actually not taking tons of supplements on top of c-salt. I take OLE at a high dose still, some primal defense, some kraut, omega 3, chlorella, and then liver stuff --> Sam-e, milk thistle complex, and when in NJ some lipo-gsh. When I started these 3 liver things, I felt MUCH MUCH etter. Liver cleansing is so key during this protocol.
I use the CMC talets and pure c right now. I used to use Real Salt and want to use some again ecause of all the nice minerals. But I thought 8 grams a day of that was too much.
Like I said, I go through periods of time feeling pretty normal on c-salt so I know that it is not the compound making me sick. I get aout 7-10 days of die off per month (not continous) and then aout 2-3 other randome days that I feel ill for a day.
I forgot to mention I am taking collodial silver (not here. I am visiting family) and given your viruses, this is a good idea. Get Argentyn from your doc if you can, if not sylvicor.
I would get your huie and kids on some c-salt too. Often whole families are infected and if not with lyme, them with parasites. Both dpd and I have our partners on the stuff and oth herxed, though they are much etter off than we are.
Finally did you get tested for as? dpd is treating this again and I may do another round of artemisinin later to see if I have it. This can e a complicated co-infection so if you have not tested for it go for it.
I am now on my 7th month and I may have just entered the montly herx last night. I had a pretty darn good month etween the last herx and this one. I still am stiff everymorning and my digestion is not great ut otherwise I feel ok. After 9-12 months I am going to chelate with ALA or TD-DMPS or add some heral microial like samento or saunas. I think it will take me 2 years at full dose to get rid eof this stuff and some adjunct too.
But again I have NEVER ever reacted so consistently and strongly to anything which is good. Ax gave way and i mean WAY to many side effects and the hers sort of worked ut I could not really tell and they cost an arm and a leg.
So Pace set a date to start, get ready to e sick for a long while ut get ready to get your health ack too. I think again this stuff can work ut please give tons of liver support, esp at the start. I would have never made it without the chlorella and then all the liver support really helped the last few months!
merry xmas
Happy New Year to you also Grace! Everything will be fine!
I highly recommend you read Dr. K's articles on lyme at http://neuraltherapy.com. I've read them each numerous times.
Note Dr. K generally believes in beating down infections first, starting with the big critters such as worms and parasites that in turn can be infected with smaller guys like borellia and babesia. He believes his garlic goes a long way at dealing with these guys, as well as salt/c.
The second phase he believes should be heavy metals detox.
The third phase he recommends is immune renormalization, including using this urine therapy he talks about in his papers.
He believes wisdom tooth problems are critical to resolve in lyme patients, as well as any other dential infection problems for that matter.
He also believes the tonsils are big deal. He likes using this cryogenic regeneration of tonsil tissue being performed in Europe, but at the very least I guess he likes to see them removed if they are scarred and the cryogenic regeneration is not possible.
Hey dpd, have you ever heard of a person having their tonsils just dissappear or disinegrate? I used to have tonsils but the doctors tell me that I dont have them anymore. I was wondering it this was part of my bodys way of handeling low grade infection. I have never had swollen tonsils or tonosillitis that I know of but have had alot of streph infections in the past. I stopped getting streph infections after starting on vitamin E,A and C.
Hi dpd,
I've just been doing some reading at the website. Very interesting stuff.
One thing though. I see Dr. K uses DMPS challenge test. I thought that was bad and it had set you back years. Could you clarify this for me?
Thanks,
Hi Grace,
I'm on a new antimalarial, and it's causing babs dieoff, insomnia included... thus, I'm awake at a ridiculous time, much like you it seems.
>> I've just been doing some reading at the website. Very interesting stuff.
I highly recommend reading each article several times. It takes a few passes to get the big picture imho.
>> One thing though. I see Dr. K uses DMPS challenge test.
He's backed way off from using DMPS. Read his heavy metal article. He advocates dmps now only after the use of a controlled protocol using cilantro/chlorella, etc. AND successive, conincident hair analyses
come back negative. This is a sign to him that the body burdon is sufficiently low that dmps is required to clear out the harder to reach metals.
>> I thought that was bad and it had set you back years. Could you clarify this for me?
I would say that my two dmps challenges set me back perhaps 6 months. On the other hand, I would say that overagressive antifungal treatments set me back 2 to 3 years, due to metals released by killing off
candida.
Your concern about dmps is valid. There are better avenues... perhaps Dr. K's views are ok, using dmps in late stages. However, even in this case I would guess that using transdermal dmps on a Andy cutler-ish schedule is in order, e.g. 3 days on, 11 days off, where the "on-days" use frequent, small dosing in order to maintain approximately constant levels of chelator in the blood stream.
Thanks, Grace
I was told that I could not use dmps because I have a sulfa allergy and that if you have a sulfa allergy you should not use dmps and that it can cause major kidney damage.
