Lyme Causes Candida?
hi,How does Lyme cause a person to have Candida? Or why is Lyme an underlying cause of it?
Grace; Did you get a look at this site?http://www.lymephotos.com
The answer may just be there. They are graphic photos.
I'm not a doctor, so the following is
just my speculation. By definition,
all chronic infections are related
to the immune system being unable to
eradicate the invaders, be they
virii, bacteria, or fungi.
Therefore any chronic infection implies
improper immune function. Perhaps the
immune system is weak, or perhaps it
itself is infected.
So it's not really that candida directly
CAUSES Lyme or the other way around.
Instead a chronic infection may cause
the immune system to struggle or
become imbalanced, therefore
making that person more likely to
become infected by something else.
According to the Marhsall Protocol
advocates, Lyme and other cell-wall
deficient bacteria can infect the
immune system itself. This causes
the Th1 branch of the immune system to
activate. But instead of attacking itself,
that activation only produces more
breeding sites for the bugs.
The result is an overexpression of
the Th1 branch of the immune system,
leading to excess inflammation and
symptoms.
Th1 and Th2 are supposed to be in
balance. Here's one link about it

For me I had candida efore lyme. I was, I am pretty sure, orn with heavy metals from my mom and got more from drinking water from pipes in a colonial city. I had ADD from childhood which is very candida and metal related. This set me up eautifully for lyme.
That said, lyme taxes the liver and depletes gsh so if you didnt have yeast to start with like me, your liver can stop functioning well, causing a uild up of metal which leads to yeast.
I can imagine other scenarios with the immunue system too.
Hi b,
I had the same problem (born to a mom with tons of mercury fillings)--not the greatest start in life.
It seems things keep going back to liver function, don't they?
The LLMD says I'm too sick to start Lyme treatment :-( even Salt/C is out for me right now, too. I have to get on high dose Vit. C first.
Things like FOS that he normally uses for yeast are problematic for me. So I'm still kind of at a loss as to how to proceed.
I'm struggling to write this post--been at it for at least 15 minutes. Rewrite, rewrite. I hope the Lyme fog lifts.
Hey Grace
Sorry to hear things are so tough. It is good your doc is not having you to start treatment too soon. And yes LIVER is frikken key. I really started to do etter on c-salt when I took milk thistle, sam-e, and lipo-gsh. When I get ack to NJ, liver flushes are waiting for me. I have had very good periods in part ecause my liver was working well.
Why can't you take 1/2 gram of each? Also are you taking chlorella. I turned around 2 years ago with that stuff. It has helped a ton.
Grace, I think you will make great improvements in the future with lyme treatment so hang in there ok!!!
hugs
Thanks biella,
I appreciate the encouragement.
Liver, liver, liver. Maybe it's time to do another LF. I never got much help from silymarin or dandelion or sam-e. Maybe, though I need to try them again.
Some of my tests also showed I have Chronic Fatigue which is another reason for the Vit. C therapy.
All in all my IS is carrying a heavy load. Treating just Candida isn't relieves symptoms, but isn't a cure.
Yesterday I was in denial about the Lyme and decided they mixed me up with someone else or tainted the blood sample. :-0.
What happens if abx & AF are taken at the same time??
Let me know when you do your liver flushes, maybe I'll do one with you.
Hey Grace
So I think lyme is more prevalant than folks think for reasons I wish I knew. For me, since I went camping for 6 weeks efore falling ill, I always suspected lyme even when I was testing negative. Candida to me was always a side effect or complicating factor.
So Zithromax with certain AF really works WELL oth as an ax and AF. I think that PaulUK or DPD may have some more info on that.
What doc are you seeing? I don't need names ut he sounds good. I hope he follows through well.
Also I think you should e happy you finally have the right dx. This means more potential hope for full recovery or remission at least. I would also really check out this site: the recovery/improvement stories keep ME GOING:

Also you may want to get http://www.gshnow.com/
although you have to e very careful with it as it can moilze metals. I usually take it 20 minutes after chlorella.
Grace, really, I think you are turning a new chapter in yr life. You have never een treated for lyme and once you start, it can really e the answer.
