Toxic Liver

Toxic Liver
Is it possible that the liver can get so toxic that it can become inflammed, giving me burning pains and showing clinical abnormalities on liver function tests (blood tests)?

Re: Liver
Intense die-off causes my liver to hurt with sharp pains.

Re: Liver/To Brett
Hi Brett. I know what you mean. My liver aches and burns - I think it could be die-off. Do you push on or do you back off for a while when this happens to you? Thanks
Amanda

Re: Liver/To Brett
Amanda, since I don't do any anti-fungals, my die-off happens if I have screwed up on the diet. So, I really don't have much choice but to push on and wait it out until I feel better. I don't know why I continue to make mistakes, but I do. This last time, I started drinking diet sodas and eating some potatos and breaded foods. Big mistakes!!!

Re: Liver/To Brett
Yes I messed up with the diet too and am paying for it! Am I mistaken in thinking that it is you who has red pin prick marks appearing on your skin? I am just trying to work out whats going on with myself at the moment - I am getting these marks and I am wondering if there is a liver connection. Not sure though.

Re: Liver/To Brett
Amanda, actually, sometimes I do get the little red pinprick marks, but only once in a while and I don't know what they are.

Re: Liver
I had a real problem with elevated liver enzymes. Doctors couldn't find out why this was happening.
My hair was falling out and then someone noticed that my hands (palms) were yellow and the bottom of my feet.
I worked in a hospital and one of the nurses noticed what was happpening and asked me what I was eating that had lots of beta carotene in it. the culprit was an abundance of yams.
When I cut back on the amount I was eating my liver enzymes came back to normal.

Re: Liver
That's exactly what's happening. Raised enzymes indicates that liver cells are under stress.

Many regular medicines can affect the liver, so read the leaflet on anything you are taking and check for liver related side effects.

Re: Liver
yep. i have had elevated liver enzymes while treating lyme and candida and i am sure toxins can cause this too. i got tested for all the hepatiti's viruses too just in case ut all were negative.

did you get tested?

Re: Liver
Hi b. Yes - got liver enzymes tested and they came back elevated. Routine blood tests for underlying liver conditions came back normal (apart from Gilberts Syndrome which is and always has been elevated in my case). Just wondering if I should lay off anything that "kills"/"treats and improve liver function/inflammation first.

Re: Liver
Amanda

what are you taking that may e elevating liver enzymes? like RX antifungals?

i do think you should lay off stuff that may e hard on the liver ut another thing to consider is that lyme is known to cause elevated enzymes too.

are they very elevated or mildly so?

Re: Liver
b
They are just mildly elevated. The burning and inflammation type symptoms and elevated enzymes seem to have occured since doing those sea salt baths when I got the extreme die-off. Other than that I am just taking a general liver support and eating plenty of raw crushed garlic. Do you think I should lay off completely with those sea salt baths - the crawling sensations have improved a little since doing those but its no good if all that die-off is just causing liver damage/inflammation/toxicity in the process. Any ideas much appreciated. Many thanks

Re: Liver
Amanda, this is just a thought that I want to run by you. Is it possible that the garlic is causing the burning? I think garlic is wonderful for yeast but it can cause burning in gut, bladder, liver etc. I can only use one type that doesnt burn. I researched alot and found this to be the most "friendly " to sensitive mucus membranes. I have tried to use other garlic supplements and fresh crushed garlic only to get alot of burning. Garlic shouldnt however elevate liver enzymes. You could try eliminating the fresh garlic, taking a supplement form with meals and see if that helps.

Re: Liver
Hi Liz. I hadn't thought about that but yes it is possible that the garlic could be causing those symptoms. I have been taking large amounts of garlic to try and eliminate the possible skin parasites and relieve some of the crawling sensations. Other than garlic I dont really know what else to try but I guess it would make sense to eliminate it for a while just to see if it is indeed responsible for my burning liver/gallbladder. Thanks
