Detoxify Liver
What else can I possibly do to help my liver detoxify? I am taking tone Plus by Sandra Cabot, Magnesium Glycinate, Zinc Citrate, a multi vit and mineral, I eat lots of greens, organic diet, use organic chemical free cosmetics, toiletries and cleaning fluids but my liver still does not cope with the candida die-off. These supplements just dont seem enough - like there is something missing. What else could I try? I dont want to actually liver flush right now, I barely tolerate any oils as it is, so any suggestions for supplements would be helpful. Amanda
I've tried practically everything for detox, and spirulina or chlorella algae work best for me, hands down.
Hi Amanda! Hey, are you the same "Amanda" as on CureZone? Boy, it is a bear, isn't it? I think I mentioned I felt strong enough to try Candex? Well, it did not work. Oh, it killed the candida just fine, but I decided to stop it after a week, because the die off was affecting my liver. Man, I curse the day I decided I could triple up on natural antifungals to get rid of candida - that was what shot my liver in the first place, and since then I have had some successes with helping it, but it always seems short lived. And I am not sure if having candida hanging out in the body isn't stressful itself on the liver, because of its toxic wastes. Have you ever tried a long-term candida kill? I am wondering because if it is just that you get die off, that in and of itself is not a bad thing, if you have it for a week or 2 and then it abates, rather it is if it just goes on and on that there is a problem. And that was my problem. I don't recall where you stand in that mix. So, rigth now I am at the point where I am going to go back to my alternative doc and ask him, is it safe to use Candex and go through the die off while my liver is so fragile, or do I need to not do that right now. Problem is I have a huge project I am trying to do at work, and it requires me to actually think, so if I go into die off it will have to be when I can take a week off or something. The other thing I am thinking of asking him is if it might be a good idea to take maybe 1 Candex every other day instead of 2 in morning and 2 in night each day, as package says. Meanwhile, I am always searching for liver tips. Most recent thing I read is that green tea helps with phase 2 detox pathway. I know I can't handle even a smidge of caffeine, so I bought some decaf green tea to see if it helps. I will let you know, and I will also let you know what my doc says about all this, when I get into see him. It may take some time, as he is quite booked.
Hi Sans Sucre. So glad you answered. I love your "liver" posts - your symptoms sound very similiar to my own. Yes I am the same Amanda as on Curezone...been around a long time now in search of health! Yes its a pig for sure. I tried the Candex - my nutritionist thought it might be ok in view of my liver detox difficulties and the fact it didnt produce die-off. Actually I found it did - and plenty of it too plus it gave me intense stomach discomfort which I think was from the protese. The reason I dont think my liver is detoxing efficiently is because when I take antifungals lots of hair drops out and I get all these tiny burst blood vessels under my skin. Very scary. Most people seem to claim that die-off should ease off after a couple of weeks. My die-off just goes on and on with my symptoms just getting worse and worse. That doesnt sound like die-off does it? I have been supporting my liver now for six months with Livertone Plus and I thought maybe I was ok now to try antifungals - so I took some Grapefruit Seed Extract and immediately I got several more burst blood vessels (tiny red pin dots) and more hair loss. If I carry on I am going to look like a pin cushion. Its very difficult balancing the liver pampering with "killing" the candida. Do please post what your health care practioner says re: the Candex/your liver problems. It would be most interesting. Thanks
Amanda
Amanda, you are so cool! I have been wondering about the little red dots and could find nothing on the web about them. I suspected they were liver-related (so what else is new??)but could find no verification. So, thanks for clearing that up. I had like maybe 1 or 2, then after trying the candex, BAM, they sprouted all over the place. I recall my mom had them in her latter years - hmmm, wonder if she had liver issues. . .
Yes, we sound quite similar - lucky us! :)
You are right about Candex. It does produce die off and I agree plenty of it. It is likely less than a regular antifungal, but for now still too much. I don't get the stomach thing (except all those enzymes make for a great, bulky BM), but I sure as heck know the liver is hurting.
Well, I had my first cup of decaf green tea and my liver has not all of a sudden awoken from its slump and taken away all my yellow palms and eyes! Yeah right - as if! I do hold onto that "will this do the trick" mentality whenever I try a new thing. But, at least it did not hurt, as so many things I try liver wise end up doing. So, maybe another cup before I leave for home - we shall see. I also just bought some turmeric caps, as I keep reading it is great for the liver. We'll see. I tell you what, I will make a point to tell you when I try something and how it goes, and I will also let you know what doc says (tho like I say it could be a month before I get in, or more) and if you encounter any interesting ideas or have a breakthrough, will you let me know? We can have a liver club. :)
Thats very interesting that you too get those little red pin dots. Like you I searched the web and could find nothing only info regarding spider nevi (which incidently are liver related) - my dots are similiar minus the legs. In the archives on here a lady called Jeannie posted that she got them whilst going too fast with the die-off and they were a sign of a toxic liver. It figures in view of the fact they multiply during or after antifungal treatment.
Good Luck with the Green Tea. I read its supposed to enhance the Glucuronidation pathway and is recommended for Gilberts Syndrome (I have that nice little complication to add to my liver list too). I did try it myself but the caffeine made me as high as a kite, admittedly it felt nice but had terrible results in the end. I didnt realise you could get decaff. Green Tea. I will definately look into that.
That would be great if you share any further liver info you find. I cannot believe lately on some forums how little the liver is discussed and how easily its dismissed in regard to candidiasis/dysbiosis. Thanks for sharing.
Amanda
Hi again.
Well, so far no probs with the decaf green tea. And the turmeric as well, as far as I can tell. But will they actually help? - only time will tell. You have Gilbert's too? That must be awful with candida. Am I correct that Gilbert's involves a slow phase 2 detox pathway? I will have to look that up as you have sparked my curiosity. Maybe I have it too. . .
Yeah, I agree about the lack of liver coverage. It seems to go in spurts, like we get a "topic of the month" and everyone concentrates on that, then someone posts some good news about something else, and focus shifts to that. Plus, with the whole thing about traditional liver tests not actually showing you anything about liver function, only liver damage, it is easy for folks to think their livers are fine, when in fact they are stressing. I am guilty of that too - of forgetting important things about the candida fight, in this case being leaky gut and also the importance of having adequate stomach acid at mealtime. I had started back on HCL about 3 weeks ago now to increase my stomach acid and improve digestion (it helped a lot), and then 2 weeks ago I started on colostrum for leaky gut, and felt awesome for about 5 days. Then I started to feel slightly crappy again, and this is when I added in the Candex, which I have now been off of for about a week and a half, as it was making me too toxic to concentrate at work. I thought that when I went off the candex that I would just feel better, and I felt somewhat better but not as well as I had hoped I would. Then last night, I did an enema (I just do those store bought pre-made 6 oz. bottles - no bags and other such props for me. . .)and lo and behold, I pushed out quite a lot of dead candida in my BM. BTW, I rarely see the candida unless I do an enema, because it is harder to get off the colon/intestine walls, and the action of the water helps. So, I think what was happening is this: The HCL helped because it assists digestion, and thus less food ends up stagnating and fostering candida growth. So, that helped to curb/kill off candida. Second, the colostrum helped heal leaky gut (and it is working very well - I can tell by the things I am all of a sudden able to eat without an allergic reaction) and thus plugged holes that candida had bored thru the stomach lining, and also helped with the liver issues by not having as many food particles escaping that the liver then has to handle, thus freeing liver to handle more of the candida waste. So, in retrospect, I think the reason I had been feeling sub-par in recent weeks was because doing the HCL and Colostrum began a die off on its own, and I mistook that (so easy to do - it all feels so similar that it is often only in retrospect do I get a clue) as getting worse, so started the Candex, which I think was simply piling on to what was already happening. I feel MUCH better today after getting all that candida out. Friday, I go for a double colonic a regular followed by re-implantation of friendly flora. I think I may be on my way back to health I sure hope so. Certainly have thought this before, but each time I go thru something I learn more, and can see why it was not true the previous times. Anyway, about leaky gut, I know you said you tried L-glutamine. That was awful for me too I had a very bad reaction to it. But, the colostrums worked great and I did not feel bad from it. I have also tried slippery elm before w/ no problems. I am wondering if you might be able to handle either colostrums or slippery elm or aloe vera or marshmallow, as I am so impressed with what healing the gut has done for both the candida and the liver, and I want that for you too!
Hi Sans. Yes I really hope that you gradually gain some benefits from taking the green tea, HCL and the colostrum. You sound to have a good protacol going there and healing the gut does make sense. I have never tried to do this to be honest...maybe like you suggest it is something I could try alongside everything else.
In regard to the possiblity of you having Gilberts Syndrome, it is quite easily detected from the standard liver function test which you may have had? Sometimes mine can be only slightly over the normal range and other times it can fluctuate much higher. It is very easily dismissed as being insignificant by doctors, some of the them even failing to mention it to you. It does affect the Glucurondiation pathway in the liver reducing the livers ability to detoxify by 40%. As this pathway underfunctions this has a knock-on effect to the other pathways, and as they become over-worked this can open the door for various virus, bacteria, yeasts etc to take hold. Many people on the Gilberts web forums suffer with severe digestive problems/CFS/M.E. Its also apparantly the main detox pathway for mercury. Maybe if you are concerned you could ask for a blood test?
I also hope you reap some major benefits from the double colonic. The enemas certainly sound to have pulled away some toxins. I find those just stir up far too much toxicity for me to cope with right now. You certainly deserve good health - you have worked SO hard.

Hi Amanda,
Well, SOEMTHING is working! When I went home alst night I looked at my tongue as I always do, and half the thrush was goen. This morning I looked againm, and it is almost all gone! This explains why I have been feeling bad last couple weeks. I am thrilled of course. It is too soon to say this is it, but the signs are promising. I think it was healing the gut that did it. If it ends up being true after another week or so, I will post my program on here and Curezone. I am doing freakin' CARTWHEELS! :) :) What a load it will be off my liver to have the candida gone.
Thanks for the explanation of Gilbert's. I have had standard tests, but am due for one so will ask about it. Ya know, already my jaundice seems to be abating - my palms look way less orange today. I always stress when I turn orange, as I know it means my liver is in trouble. But, if it is due to Gilbert's that would at least alleviate the fear of liver failure. Thansk so much - I will definitely look into it.
Boy, I sure as heck did not think I would be writing a victory post anytime soon. If you could give colostrum a try, even just one cap to see if you can tolerate it, if you can, the rewards might be great. I know how it is when you are so toxic you don't want to add on. The colostrum was able to reduce my toxicity levels so the candida could begin to go away, I think.
Wow - thats amazing and I am sooo pleased for you. Colostrum here I come! I wonder if you may have to keep taking the Colostrum to keep the gut healed? Maybe this was the your missing piece in this endless puzzle. I hope one day you do get around to doing a blog you have loads of info. worth sharing. I am dairy intolerant but maybe I could get away with just trying a small dose to see how I react. Great news anyway Sans Sucre!
Hi Amanda,
I think so, that this was my missing piece. Only time will tell for sure, but so far I am amazed. Already my orange palms look lighter, and my eyes looked less yellow this morning too. If I have to take this stuff for the rest of my life that is fine with me, lol! It will be soooo worth it.
I too had massive dairy intolerance before I started taking this stuff. Now, in less than 3 weeks, it is no problem at all. I am psyched because I am able to eat yogurt now, whereas before I would wheeze, nose would run and then I'd get fatigued from it. I have not yet tried straight milk, but the natural market near my work sells raw milk and I may try some soon. Since the colostrum actually helps with intolerances, I think it helped with my dairy intolerances, which is ironic I know, but it was that powerful for me.
If this is for real, you can bet I will blog! While health was going back and forth, it seemed wrong to do it as after all I had not yet healed myself, so why would anyone listen to me, you know what I mean?
But, I am geting ahead of myself, and I promised myself I would not do that, but it is so hard when something like this happens after such a long time, it is hard to keep myself contained. :)
What I have found that helps my liver the most is coffee enemas. Gross I know, but they have helped me tremendously.
If I elevate my hips and lay on my right side while retaining I can get stones, sludge and all kinds of crap out of my liver and gallbladder. I've done about 10 liver flushes about a year ago but just got to where I would almost throw up at the thought of drinking the OO/GFJ mix and I had gotten to where I felt I had the biggest stones out by then so opted to continue on but with the coffee enemas.
Thanks Deb - I will bare those in mind. I have never done an enema...dont fancy the idea much but if they help anything is worth a try.
Amanda
