Leaky Gut
Any one know of treatment or cure for leaky gut?
You need to identify why you have leaky gut- parasites or yeast and treat. Healing items include fish oil, green food type chlorophyl, probiotics (I like Garden of Life's Primal Defense.), and whole leaf completely unfiltered aloe vera juice. Use the unflavored preferably. The only one I've found that is not filtered at all is AloeLife's AloeGold.

I struggle with that too. You can try using some of the standard things such as L-glutamine and slippery elm powder. But all the recommended herbs and supps just caused me more pain. I find the best way to deal with it is AVOIDANCE of all food allergies and intolerances as well as good nutrition. ( and time of course ). You can try getting one of those food allergen tests done, which can be very helpful. I had one years ago and i was allergic to nearly everything...really. Mine had gotten out of control tho ( and the candida had too ). so maybe you are not as sensitive :-).
Hi Floridian,
Does this sound like leaky gut?? I have been on a candida diet(very strict and sticking to it) for about 7-8 months. I only eat chicken, fish, and non starch veggies. Occasionally natural and organic pork, and bison. I eat yucca root and nuts and seeds. This is how I get my carbs. And twice a week I have a little brown rice so my body doesn't go into kytosis(sp?) Now I am having immediate vaginal reactions after eating any nuts and seeds. I am only eating almonds, pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds, and sunflower seeds. It seems like I am having reactions to almost anything I put in my mouth. The yeast is either finding more food to live off of or I am just having allergic reactions. AND forget it if I try to cheat at all with some acorn squash or a little tomato. I am going crazy here and I feel very stuck. Someone suggested NAET allergy elimination procedure through acupuncture. My problem is that I can't tell if it is just allergy reactions or yeast flareups. Would this be considered leaky gut? Anyone with any ideas???
Sounds like you are dieting without first using anti-fungals to kill off the yeast.
The purpose of the Candida diet isn't to kill off yeast. It won't
Let me emphasize that
THE CANDIDA DIET DOESN'T KILL CANDIDA
The correct protocol is as follows:
Kill off the Candida with antifungals.
After about 1 week on AFs (once die-off is finished), start the Candida diet, which will prevent the yeast from returning to the gut and secreting antibiotics to suppress bacterial growth.
In the absence of Candida and its antibiotic secretions, bacteria should multiply and repopulate the gut, changing the millieu and releasing antimycotics, further preventing Candida from multiplying and repopulating the gut
A diet without antifungals will simply stimulate the budding Candida yeast to switch phenotype to the more invasive and dangerous hyphae producing fungal form, which penetrates the gut wall in search of a source of carbohydrates
Yes I agree. I have been on the diet for several years and find that although it does help tremendously, by itself it isn't the cure.
I did the diet thing first for a while and later had bad problems and went to Standard Process - this is a manufactor that make supplements for all sorts of problems and just nutrician and I took it for a while and had some relief but once it was changed the achy joints, muscle aches, itching under arms, vaginal itching and rashes would appear and go away at times. I do have endometriosis and acne and pain in bladder at times- what do you see would work for me that would have less die off problems and would immediatley take care of the problem that has been with me over a year.
It's very difficult sometimes to tell the difference between leaky gut and candida symptoms. I am just now after many years beginning to tell a real difference. I am healing and getting rid of a lot of this overgrowth now so it's easier to tell a difference.
As for the nuts and seeds it could be mold that's causing your reacion. I rarely eat them for that reason.
How long have you had candida? If you've had it for a long time...such as years, you probably have some degree of permeability in oyur gut lining.
Hmm. Well I don't know about the acupuncture. It didn't work for me. But then again I think that lies more with noot having anyone that knew about candida. Folks in my area just take a correspondance course and get a certificate to hang up. Then they think they can practice alternative medicine. Sad.
You might be better served to have a food allergy blood test done. I forget the actual name, but Great Smokies Labs has one. I don't know if I would use them now though. I have heard their ownership changed hands a few years back, and the quality has suffered. I tend to believe it because I paid a bookoo amount for a stool test a few years back and the results were laughable! They said I had plenty of good bacteria in my gut. Give me a break.
To get a food allergy blood test or a stool sample- do you need a prescription from an alternative doctor? My doctor seems to be very slow about ordering these tests for me.
Yes you do. Locating these folks is the tricky part.
Chiropractors and nurse practitioners can be hlepful and sometimes more open minded ( I used to have a fabulous Nurse Prac. but she moved back out West...and even she only had SOME knowledge about candida ).
Also I've heard that some DO.'s are good. BUt just be aware of the scammers. These will come more in the form of accupuncturists, homeopaths, and other people who claim to be practicing 'complimentary medicine'. Not that they are all like that I mean. But i have run across many of them in my area. There's a nice hot place down under in the afterlife for people like that! He he.
As I mentioned, asking at your health food store is a good place start.
Hi,
Yeah I ve got that and had servere Candida. I saw a Homeopath she tested me and I was allergic to everything. She put me on a diet programme which was hard as hardly anthing left to eat..and with no sugar in your body leads to fatigue which is awful..
I am nearly 4 months into diet and my levels are now nearly 100% which means Candida is nearly gone..
Once Candida has gone she is going to treat my leaky gut..but I do feel much better in myself from Candida going ..still get swollen belly and sore from Leaky gut..she is going to introduce digestive enzmes next I think not sure but when I have been back I'll let you know what she tells me to do..
Keep smiling
Mand
