Di-Off Duration
Hey, my name is vincent and i have just embarked on my journey of fighting this candida. i am 19 years old and have apparently had this since nearly birth (first antibiotics at 3 months of age). I also have a gluten intolerance. needless to say i've cut out all gluten containing grains/drinks (beer). i am on a strict candida diet and have been on some strong supplements for some time now. i'm taking huge doses of acidophilus and am now taking nystatin. i will be starting diflucan in about a month.
my questions are centered around this die-off problem. i'm a perfectionist by nature and have restricted my carb intake to between 60 to 100g a day. this is very hard considering in high school i played 3 varsity sports and now play 2 club ones at college. I also run and lift daily. lately my muscles have just felt funny. I have that feeling in my muscles you get when someone scratches a chalkboard. they feel fatigued and this fatigue continues to spread to new muscle groups. yet when i work out my strength has not changed considerably. should i go to a neurologist or just tough it out? if feels like my motor control is off.
also the brain fog is killing me. i was wondering how long it will take for that to clear up? my classes start back up at the end of this month. i go to yale and if i'm not at the top of my game i'm a dead man. god only knows how i've made it this far. should i increase my carb intake some? maybe this is causing my muscle problems.
in the end i did have one stroke of luck. i found an MD who has suffered through this; therefore, he has spent the last 20 years devoting himself to helping those with candida problems. its good for getting very strong supplements. though not so good when you get to take acidophilus and are just craving a Belgium waffle. thanks for the help. sorry the post is so long
I spent 4 years treating severe Candida overgrowth and the associated profound fatigue. I must have killed off the yeast at least a dozen times with various anti-fungals, including Nystatin. Also being a perfectionist I spent over 2 years on the Candida diet.
To answer your question, die-off never lasted longer than 1 week...
Over time, the effect of all of the Antifungals diminished. When first used I would recover fully and start running again. I had so much energy it felt like I was running on someone else's legs. I could rip out trees by the roots. Over time, the response became less marked and eventually I needed AFs all the time just to function.
My daughter suffered the same type of symptoms.
I recovered when I got rid of the Mercury that blew away my immune system and allowed the yeast to invade my GI tract
My daughter recovered when we got rid of the 3 pesticides that had been used to treat her bedroom furniture and carpet
You mention you are Gluten intollerant. Is that a true allergy or simply that the dysbiosis in your gut forms incorrect metabolites from gluten that generate symptoms (gluten can break down to form opio-peptides which act on the brain's receptors exactly like narcotic analgesics).
In my experience and based on the hundreds of lab measurements I made, you get rid of Candida when you get rid of the cause for the Candida being there in the first place.
Steve,
How long did it take for you to feel better after the amalgam removal? Did you have many fillings? Your story is very similar to mine and I'm just about to start my amalgam removel in less than 2 weeks. Also, did you chelate?
Thanks
I actually felt worse after amalgam removal because I was not aware of the special procedures needed to avoid mercury toxicity caused by drilling old amalgams
Following removal I did 4 rounds of chelation. After each I recovered but after the first 3 rounds eventually relapsed, since I hadn't managed to fully deplete my body's mercury stores. By the end of the 4th round, Hg levels were undetectable and my recovery permanent.
interesting. i guess it would be a good idea to try to find out exactly what is causing my candida. my gluten allergy is a true one. ige, iga, etc..all say it is. i've been wondering if gluten was possibly the cause of my candida infestation? since being a celiac devastates the GI track this seems logical. also, like most people, i have been eating gluten containing products for years, which means my intestines are pretty messed up right now. now i feel worse than i did before i started my treatment which needless to say is quite discouraging. now i just have to convince the doctors up at school that i somehow ingested a lot of weird stuff so i can get all the heavy metal tests and what not because as we all know they don't believe in this candida thing.
