Die-Off
Please help me....I don't know if I have die-off symptoms or I am just sensitive to what I am eating or the supplements I am taking....this is soooooooooooooooooo frustrating!
hi gala, its difficult. i know im getting die-off because suddenly all my symptoms will become very much worse at the same time, anxiety, really blurred vision, a sort of manic drive to do something but not want to do anything etc etc. also IF(!)i do a very strict diet i can predict that in 4-6 weeks ill get bad die-off. try and listen to what your bodys telling you.
Hi UK
Symptoms that start 4-6 weeks after a diet are far more likely to be symptoms of deficiency than symptoms of Candida die-off.
Starving Candida without taking antifungals will simply cause the yeast to switch phenotype from a budding yeast to a hyphae producing mold. Hungry pathogenic yeast is dangerous in that it becomes far more invasive when the availability of simple carbohydrates are dramatically reduced.
In my experience, die-off begins 1-3 days after commencing an antifungal treatment and lasts between 3 and 7 days, depending on the strength of the antifungal.
hi steve(!) my gut instinct (har har) is its candida first, and deficiency second in my case. when i do get die-off from a candida diet, about a week before the die-off, i get intestinal spasims, and feelings like something is breaking apart in there, and a popping sensation, its quite odd, and after this my stomach will look visibly smaller. also thats another reason why i think ive got candida, because i look bloated even on a low carb diet, which says to me theres something physically inside my intestines that is pushing my stomach outwards. and the die-off i experience is typical of candida, brain fog, fuzzy vision etc i do take your point there could be deficiency occuring, and it maybe making the candida problems worse, i think ive got a gluten problem aswell, so its probable, but i think any deficiency would be making it harder for my body to combat the candida toxins, and thats why i have very sevier symptoms, but i just come back to when this destruction and popping feeling in my intestines happens @ around 4-5 weeks, then almost immediately i have terrible die-off, then after that i feel great, im 99% sure its candida
But when you first go on the diet (I only use probiotics at the moment...no antifungals), couldn't the die-off last some time as the yeast slowly die off???
I don't actually know. What is known is that when carbohydrates are scarce, the yeast changes its phenotype and starts taking its nutrition from capillaries within the intestinal walls. This is obviously far more invasive and more damaging than having a budding yest in the gut
Steve, that sounds like a worse problem then....my body is very sensitive so I can't tolerate antifungals right now....does that mean that I am just making the situation worse by slowly starving the yeast????
hi Gala, dont get too paranoid about it, the alternative to starving the yeast is to feed it, and thats not a good idea at all ;) just try and stay on the anticandida diet and probiotics and in time your symptoms may reduce enough to try antifungals.
Actually far better would be to start on low doses of very mild antifungals that are reasonably well tolerated, for example the program supplied by THE WHOLE APPROACH, grtadually increasing the dosage as tolerated then finally introducing a Candida diet.
