Mitral Valve Prolapse
My Mitral Valve Prolapse is so slight that my Physician at that time said I did not have to take anti-biotics before a dental appointment but of course my Dentist disagreed. I have worked for my Dentist and he knows me well and knows I do not take the anti-biotics. At times he does not even ask me if I took the anti-biotics. I had the test otherwise I don't think a Dr. can hear it. I suppose it is important for many people but I think only two people have died from this condition so I will take my chances.

I was told by a nurse years ago it is caused by mineral deficiencies and a Dr. agreed with this theory. It definitely was and is true in my case. I am supposed to take an anti-biotic before dental visits but do not. I will take my chances. Tietelbaum says taking CoQ10 is very important for anyone with mitral valve prolapse.

Re: Charles Mitral Valve Prolapse
Will minerals reverse the condition?

I had a good talk about taking anti-biotics before dental work with my environmental allergist. He assured me that despite candida it was very necessary. Once bacteria travels through the blood stream to the rings of the valves of the hearts, and infection sets in quickle and ferociously. It requires massive doses of the strongest anti-biotics with a grim outcome. He believes and now I do to that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Even in a case with someone who has severe candida, in this instance anti-biotics are the wise course of action.

Re: Charles Mitral Valve Prolapse
I totally agree. My FIL almost died after not taking them for a cleaning! He had emergency valve replacement surgery. He had rhuematic fever as a child and he new he was at risk. They said for sure it was bacteria from his mouth that got into his heart. I floss my teeth for my heart, not my teeth!

Re: Charles Mitral Valve Prolapse
Hi Sheryl,

How is your FIL? Is he O.K. now?

I just had to smile about the part that you floss your teeth for your heart not your teeth. I'm in the same club. :-)
Re: Charles Mitral Valve Prolapse
Well, it was back in 89 that he had the valve replacement surgery. He passed away in 02 form cancer, nothing at all related to the teeth/heart thing.

Re: Charles
To be on the safe side, I would also take vitamin C and olive leaf for infection.Co-Q wouldnt do much for infection would it? I think it oxygenates the system and thins the blood. I know that vitamin C is known to negate anesthesia but I have never found this to be a problem.
