Brown Rice

brown rice
ls,

I saw the posts below with your brown rice flour question. It truly does appear to be different for everyone, but the only starch that my doctor has listed for the candida diet see recommended, is one cup of brown rice a day. I sometimes get bloated if I have the whole cup at once, but I survived my last bout and came up clean on my lab tests while consume the cup of brown rice a day or consuming it as puffed brown rice or brown rice cakes. So I guess from my experience, it didn't break my diet and I highly, highly doubt it was the reason I relapsed because the candida did officially die. It was how I addressed life after the diet that relapsed me! Just a thought.

Also, I am not sure if you were someone who had posted about not feeling full, but I think you may have. My doc also recommended mid-diet last time that I have soy milk and whey protein shakes in the blender to stop the weight loss. It did that last time, but it didn't really keep me full, but it did curb the weight loss. I didn't buy the idea that increasing the protein would help me feel full, but...

This time, though, I started having them from the start in the morning with some sort of breakfast and I do find them filling now. That didn't break me last time either.

The diet is a HUGE adjustment, but view it as temporary for now. You will adjust. I made a list of all that I CAN eat meaning that I listed each type of meat and each veggie that I like and each type of fish that I like and it seemed like more. I refer to it when I get bored to see if I am missing some way to spice things up!

Hang in there!

Re: ls -- on brown rice
the list is a great idea...thank you
at least it wont make me feel so deprived!

maybe ill try some brown rice and see if it works.

would you recommend working with a doctor or nutritionist? im doing this all on my own and not sure im doing the right thing in terms of candida cleanse and supplements...?

Re: ls -- on brown rice
It appears that a lot of people here have had to go it alone. Not everyone can find a doc or someone to help. I think it is possible to have success on your own and many doctors don't go for the candida thing. I think it is good to read up on keeping up with your liver and making sure that you are using something to get the toxins out of you quickly enough so you don't get to a healing crisis. I am sure people here would have recommendations. What I use can only be gotten through a doctor.

Are you using herbal anti-fungals or just the diet? It is really hard to say on how to go about it. You can try your doc. There is a way to test through a place called Great Smokies Labs which can tell what is going on. It is helpful to have test results because there are so many different buggers who can cause problems and they can even test to see what the infectors are resistent to in terms of herbs. If your doctor has no idea about that or isn't receptive, people use naturopaths who either know or seem more receptive to going down the path with you. Alternatively, I don't know if they do this, but Great Smokies may give you the names of some docs in your area who test through them. Again, I don't know if they will do that, but if so, that might be worth a shot: gsdl.com.

Everyone's journey is so unique unfortunately, but you have found a good place to at least bounce off your ideas. If you happen to be in the Boston area, Dr. Cathleen London in Brookline knows candida enough at least and has some supplements to help... Hang in there!
