gluten symptoms
What are your gluten symptoms? I for the most part feel crummy when eating a small amount of gluten unknowlingly (like in a sauce or something), but the last times I ate it knowlingly I got very tired, diarrhea and canker sores in my mouth. Plus, I know it feeds the candida big time. I try pretty hard to stay away. The hardest part is probably cakes and cookies, especially at parties. If I know in advance it's going to be hard for me, I bring something gluten free to eat, even though I shouldn't because of the sugar!

That was pretty funny about the blood...I wish I could give you some of mine. Isn't it strange how candida acts so differently on different people? That's what makes this disease so crazy to figure out.

I really hope I don't have hemochromatosis because of all the implication it brings with it. But if I don't, then I need to find a way to get the inflammation down so I can rid myself of the candida and high iron stores once and for all. It really does sound like you needed the iron. You had many of the classic symptoms. I'm sure while your still having periods it would make sense that your iron would be low. After menopause is when it probably starts to store in some women. I did have a dream one night a few years ago that I needed a heavy period! I'd much rather have that than give blood! I also had dreams a lot then about an "iron", like ironing clothes. At the time I wasn't sure it meant I needed iron or had too much. Then I had the period dream. I guess I should have figured it out with that one...

gluten symptoms
I have seriously gone gluten free for the last year. Before that I would occasionally cheat with a bakery product at occasional times. I think it has helped some as far as candida goes, but I have so many other allergies and we eat out a lot. I try to stay away from sauces and try to eat plain or get the sauces on the side. Almost everything is thickened with flour. Sometimes I'm sure I ingest something with wheat in it, but not on purpose. After I had tests done and showed up positive to gliaden I figured I better face the facts that I can't have it. Unfortunately there are so many good gluten-free products out there now that I'm sure I'm feeding yeast at times!

gluten symptoms
When I was at my dr. yesterday he told me about some fairly new stool tests that are very accurate in showing gluten intolerance. I did a little checking online and saw "Entero Labs" is a company that sells them. The prices are not too bad and you don't need a dr. to give you an order. My dr. told me that 25-35% of the people being tested, even without symptoms, are coming out positive. I know there was talk a while back about gluten intolerance and blood tests. According to my dr. and the Entero website blood tests show up very few positives to gluten intolerance. They believe it's because it is a disease of the digestive tract and that makes it easier to detect in a stool sample...makes sense. My dr. thinks gluten intolerance is so widespread that he might have the stool test as a routine screening for all his new patients.
