Garlic Allicin
aleta, I have used several types of garlic and have used garlic for many years. I purchased some of his garlic and did not find it to be any better than some that you can buy in the stores. It is very strong on the stomach which I wouldnt mind if I saw the benefits. There are several others that I like but maybe he has a reason for the one he uses.
ok, good to know... thanks liz.
i just took some Zhang's allicin combined with some Oreganol and touched off one of the more massive herxes i've ever had... but i feel better after it.
so i'll keep what you're saying in mind.
what's you're fav. store-bought brand?
Hi Aleta,
>> i know Doc K has a kind of freeze-dried garlic he prefers... can you buy it online and if so, can you send me the link? thanks.
You can get it using the phone number here.
http://biopureus.com/
Note that Zhang claims his allicin is processed to remove certain chemicals from the garlic... making it preferable. I'm not sure what I ever thought about that, but I did find that it helped so I'm currently on both Zhang's allicin and biopure's garlic.
Note also that both b and I have found that accupuncture helps with lyme, but the improvements aren't very long lived. I presume it helps to temproarily open up some detox pathways. Thus if you can muster it financially I would recommend you see zhang for accupuncture and herbs both.
Note also that I was on Zhang's HH for 6 months and didn't find it helped much. The babs protocol was helpful though.
>> how are you feeling btw?
Actually I'm feeling find, expect that I'm sleeping an enormous amount in the day, and still struggling with insomnia. All this started when I reached a daily dose of OLE. It took me months... perhaps even years to be able to handle OLE daily, so I'm delighted. The fungal dieoff was always the barrier, but at my current dose it seems more like lyme dieoff that's setting me back. I see the llmd tomorrow, and I leveled my dose about a week ago in order to prepare for the visit. I also haven't taken any ampho B since last Monday for the same reason. Wednesday I'll take some ampho B and up my OLE dose, and I expect to have fungal dieoff again.
At any rate, again, I'm so excited I'm handling increasing doses of antifungals. This has been a problem for me for YEARS, and I suspect treating the lyme is helping my body deal with the fungal dieoff.
Other than the fatigue, I'm feeling well. I feel amazingly resiliant, taking all of the antimicrobials that I am. And setbacks aren't any where near as severe as they used to be. I feeling physically strong, and my digestion remains the best it's been perhaps in my adult life.
Hope you'e hanging in there. Sorry to hear about the gall stones. I guess you might guess that I'd try deal with these with flushes. I've passed a couple so far that were a good inch in the largest diameter. Obviously this is a most personal choice and anything you do is risky... I just can't imagine undertaking surgery with lyme.
One q, so you know if they have to remove the gall bladder entirely, or can they open it up and remove the stones while leaving the bladder? I certinly would be very concerned about losing my gall bladder.
Hi d,
thanks for the link. i never found any benefit whatsoever from acupuncture, and i did for two years - but i'll give zhang a shot - at least he knows about lyme.>>>>Note also that I was on Zhang's HH for 6 months and didn't find it helped much. The babs protocol was helpful though.I thought HH WAS a huge part of his babs protocol?>>>At any rate, again, I'm so excited I'm handling increasing doses of antifungals. This has been a problem for me for YEARS, and I suspect treating the lyme is helping my body deal with the fungal dieoff.Yes, this is a good sign. You wanna really experience a fungal die-off, try some "Oreganol" w. P73... whooo.>>>Other than the fatigue, I'm feeling well.
That is FABULOUS news. Good going.
>>>I feeling physically strong, and my digestion remains the best it's been perhaps in my adult life. That's the salt/c - I am sooo jealous of all of you who seem to be able to take it - but I have mega-problems with the salt/c, and combining it with abx is actually really rough for some reason.>>>>>Hope you'e hanging in there. Sorry to hear about the gall stones. I guess you might guess that I'd try deal with these with flushes. Well, ordinarily I would too, I've done a bunch of flushes before, with no big problems... but does anyone really know if you even CAN flush a big, honking stone out without some serious risk?>>>>>One q, so you know if they have to remove the gall bladder entirely, or can they open it up and remove the stones while leaving the bladder? I certinly would be very concerned about losing my gall bladder.I don't want to lose mine either - but no, for some reason, they do not ever just remove the stone, they remove the whole thing. And, if you have a BIG stone, they never use any of the gallstone-dissolving drugs or alternative, they just rip out the gallbladder.
I don't think I have to worry about it right now - I do not have actual gallbladder attacks, so that stone is probably not messing with me much, I guess (although I don't know... maybe my gut is so messed up b/c of that stone, who knows?)
Not gonna hassle about it right now but no immediate plans to let anyone remove any of my organs.
Thanks for the info!
A.
I was actually thinking of trying dr.Zs garlic because I have heard such good things about it.
I usually use kyolic. I dont think that it is one of the best for antifungal use but it is the most bladder friendly for me. I also like allimax but you have to order it .
from vitamin research. You cant buy I it in the health food stores. they are a good company to deal with. I think garlicin is also a good product. Have you tried calling Dr. Shultzs office? They might be able to assist you with your gall stone issue.
A few other comments...
There are a few things that I think will help with the abx related gut problems. First I highly recommend salt/c... it's helped my digestion tremendously, and it's not as allergenic as other things. The severe gut damage will lead to sensitivities.
Second, I've had amazing luck with certain parasite herbs. I like worm squirm 1 AND 2 from http://ariseandshine.com. I also LOVE the freeze dried black walnut hull/wormwood product from Eclectic Institute. They are calling it "Intestinal Support" these days as I recall.
Finally, I'd be worried about gut bacterial infections, particularly Clostridium Diff. Word has it that L. GG is highly effective for this, found in culturelle. I make 24 hour goat milk yogurt out of this, and can only imagine the cfu I recieve from the yogurt. This has helped my gut immensely over the years. I use many other strains of probios as well.

I will try again, but it gives me a really hard time, including a really big inflammation reaction in my gut that gets painful... sigh.>>>Second, I've had amazing luck with certain parasite herbs. And I gotta protect my gut cuz the last time nearly killed me, and I think the abx gave me a massive gut yeast problem.>>>Finally, I'd be worried about gut bacterial infections, particularly Clostridium Diff. Yes, but you have to take at least 5/day of Culturelle (according to someone on one of the andy cutler boards) - but i will do that.>>>I make 24 hour goat milk yogurt out of this, and can only imagine the cfu I recieve from the yogurt. Thanks dpd! i'm gonna do this stuff so hopefully i can tolerate the abx better this time - i need to take it for six more weeks at least according to dr. G. oi.
Also,
Are you on nystatin? After the surgery I did 7 weeks of nystatin combined with a HUGE amount of probiotic yogurt AND custom probiotics. Still the keflex did a number on me. My tongue coating was pretty gross. It took a good 4 weeks after commensing the keflex before this turned around, and I'm pretty happy to have been on nystatin.
I do the other side of my mouth on January 30, and hopefully I'll be on decent doses of OLE, ampho B, nystatin, and CS. That's the plan... btw, I'm hoping the keflex goes much better next time. First time wasn't fun!
Have you had any luck with collodial silver? I have been using it a little. It seemed to aggravate candida symptoms for me but I think has been a good bacteria inhibitor. Maybe my symptoms are yeast die off. I really struggle with the concept of what is die off and what is an allergic reaction.
Hi Liz,
I'm using argentyn 23 nasal spray to clear out my sinuses, and yes, I do believe it's helping. My sinuses feel very open, which I'm happy about. Also, for many months if not more than a year I was attempting to use and the resulting brain fog (candida dieoff) sucked. Again, I'm so happy I'm now able to handle it. I'm taking 2 sprays, twice daily.
Soon I'll be using nebulized CS in an attempt to clear out the lungs.
So you think the silver causes die off? All my candida symptoms worsened. If I knew for sure it was die off, I would continue to use it. My scalp was just itching so badly and the fatigue was terrible. I do think it is good for infections thou and want to use it.
Liz,
did you still need me to email you my llmd info?
Whenever you feel up to it. Dont worry about it.I had some specific questions that I posted down below but I cant remember tonite what they were. I think I have your email address and I will collect my thoughts and email the questions to you. I hope you are feeling better. It is interesting how lyme has become such a prevelant topic on the candida board . I am glad that this is being addressed and think that many will benefit from the information.
