Healing
Hi, this is OLD OLD that posted here in 2000 - 2001, not that newer guy that came later. Anyway, some of you might remember me. One of the biggest blocks to healing is the mental state one is in. What I mean by that, is... we all seem to have trouble sticking to supplement programs. We lose confidence for whatever reason, etc, and we stop. However, I believe that keeping a good mental state is key to staying on target. I've used St. John's Wort, Kava, Rhodiola, L-tyrosine, which all give my a nice boost that I need to stay condifent of my supplements. I eat a good deal of protein and only complex carbs to keep my blood sugar even. I think that one cannot heal without have a clear goal and following it, and unfortunately a big part of these illnesses is the brain fog / depression / whatever, that make you lose sight of your goals.
Anyway, that's my two cents. I'm not healed, but that's just a little something I've learned over the past few years.
Hi Andrew, I have found that I have a good attitude when I feel well. I think if we all started feeling better, our attitudes would improve greatly. Not so much the other way around.
I think I remember you from the days of yore. I agree with you that sticking to programs long term can be key. However, if you believe in the wrong regimen and stick to it stubbornly then you won't come out ahead. I stuck to probiotics for way too long and got no benefit. Sometimes it takes a very long time to figure out just what to stick to...I'm still working on it.
One of the things I've learned since regaining my health is that supplements can be very positive, as long as the body is lacking the particular vitamin or mineral I'm supplementing. For me at least, long term use of supplements can cause its own set of symptoms.
Hey Andrew,
I agree with you.
Another thing that's getting in the way of healing for a lot of us undx'd lyme disease. It's a silent pandemic, but quite a number of folks here and elsewhere are finding they have it. I've been diagnosed with at least two tick borne infections, and a few others including HHV-6 and liver flukes.. beyond the giardia, blasto, candida, mycoplasma, klebsiella, etc.
The lyme bacteria SEVERELY suppresses the immune system and appears to cause folks to accumulate heavy metals. The secondary infections and toxicity further suppress the immune system, causing a snowballing effect. Candida probably always results from this!
Hope you can stick around a bit and catch up!
