Candida Sucks

candida and mental state? Since I've had these chronic yeast infections (and thrush) I've had horrible depression mixed with weird anxiety.
Can candida make you wig out mentally?

Re: candida and mental state?
Spriggy, check out Rhodiola Rosea herb.

Re: candida and mental state?
YES!!!

It is difficult to guage how much it affected my mental state before as I believe I have had it so long that I don't know the real me but I am getting there!

Anxiety has always been a severe symptom for me which also causes a great deal of confidence issues with all the worry!

I also suffered very bad depression when I started treating my candida. Maybe I did things too quickly at the start but for about 2 months I was so depressed I felt like I wanted to give up and end my life!! This was despite the fact that I know I am infact the happiest I have ever been in my life!!!!

I am lot better now in all aspects although I still seem to be affected quite badly before my period is due.

You really have to hang on in there, once you begin to deal with the Candida you will begin to return to some kind of normality eventually!!!! :)

Re: candida and mental state?
Hi Spriggy,

In my experience, Candida itself causes brain fog, fatigue and a host of other syptoms, which may make you feel low but personally I never experienced depression. On the other hand, xenobiotics, which are often the root cause of a Candida infection can very much cause mood disorders like anxiety and depression.

Re: candida and mental state?
i feel insane and like a loser and lazy and depressed and stupid and ugly and anti-social and anxious and like no one really knows me or even likes me and in a brain fog and like a fake...and those are just the emotions i had today.

its really tough.

im so glad we all have eachother though, no one else really gets it and i guess how could they unless they went through this every minute every hour every day for years....?

sending you a smile!!!! :)

Re: candida and mental state?
Hi Lauren

Yes..... It's good to hear others feel the same.

I've read a book called 'Cooking without' by Barbara Cousins, which in the introduction she writes lots about emotional and mental toxicity!
It's a chicken and egg situation.

After trying all the diets and remedies for 5 years now... I'm now convinced that the biggest cause is stress and anxiety! which i think triggered the dreaded itch when I was just 8 years old.

Did you experience any trauma as a kid or teen?
There might be links?

Re: candida and mental state?
Lauren, thanks for the laugh! I'm laughing with you not at you because I feel the same way today!

Re: candida and mental state?
i hate it. it makes me feel like a complete loser. i cant stand up for myself if someone says something about me because i cant think properly to formulate a reaction, and if i do manage to say something, even if im totally right, i look awkward and guilty as hell, and there are so many other things. i like to read, but i cant focus properly half the time, the other half im just plain tired. i often have nightmares about being lonely, and they are usually at school (where i never felt lonely and had an ok time)candida is a cruel thing.

Re: candida and mental state?
Steve, been there. Have you tried cultured vegetables. I had all of the problems you listed for years, until I tried them.

Re: candida and mental state?
hi Brett, nice to hear from you again. no i havent tried the cultured veggies yet, i think i remember you mentioning this a while back but i was probably in too much of a daze, whats the best way to make them?

Re: candida and mental state?
Boy your really sticking behind your cultured vege friends huh? lol just kiddin brett, you have inspired me to start eating them..

Re: candida and mental state?
Wow, you sound like me Steve, I can totally relate to how you feel.. It sucks when you know you are a smart person inside but you can't seem to articulate, and express yourself to other people...
It's sooo damn frustrating, and makes me angry.. Especially sucks now that I'm single and trying to date again..
I feel for you..
Kristin

Re: candida and mental state?
to answer your question of feeling wigged out ..yes candida l would consider this the cause l too have been battling this dreadful condition for a year now.

Re: candida and mental state?
Someone posted on another candida forum I frequent that 95% of our seratonin is produced in the gut. We all have gut issues with candida that I'm sure affect our "feel good" levels of seratonin, so yes, candida does most definitely cause emotional issues.

Re: candida and mental state?
I think the wrong microbial balance in the gut (dysbiosis) leads to a leaky gut. When leaky gut occurs, the act of digesting food becomes an exercise in being poisened, which causes one not to feel exactly on top of the world.
