Thrush

What is Oral Thrush?
Dumb question I know but is it simply a white coating on the tongue? I dont have this symptom but I do have lots and lots of strange - what feels like loose skin growing all over the insides of my cheeks. I can scrape it away with my finger nails but I dont know if it is just loose skin or infact oral thrush. If I scrape it away it just comes back in patches again and I am forever chopping and pulling at my inner cheeks with my teeth. Its very minor in comparison with all my other symptoms but nevertheless its annoying because I dont know what it is!

Re: What is Oral Thrush
Look at pictures on line of oral thrush. what you are describing DOES sound like oral thrush. Does your mouth feel fuzzy? Have you seen anyone for it?

Re: What is Oral Thrush
i get those white patches on the inside of my cheeks and im always biting them, and i get the coated tongue.i used to get pains in my tongue aswell which hurt like hell. after eating refined sugars i get an alcohol taste in my mouth for a few hours, then it will go away. this happenes everytime i eat refined carbs. i think ive got a bad case at the moment.

To Steveuk
Steve - do you think those white patches on your cheeks are thrush?

To amandauk
yeah i think the white spots/areas are thrush. amanda. do u mean u get loose skin which comes away? because i remember having that very early on with my oral candida, it was actual small amounts of skin, not yeast.

Re: What is Oral Thrush
It is not simply white coating on the tongue. I often have the white coat and you know what elimiates it? cars and sugars. It is clearly not thrush, in my case, ut related to liver issues.

The thrush tend to e very thick.. And gets worse with cars and sugars.
Re: What is Oral Thrush
Hi Amanda,

I am lucky i have never had the white tongue some people talk about, but i have two small hard pea lumps IN the skin were my tonsils used to be.

My daughter had eliminated sugar wheat and yeast from her diet for a month, yesterday she rewarded herself with a a pizza! this morning she had what she calls globules at the back of her throat, they are white and look like candida, i have told her to stay on the diet longer this time to starve the yeast, she has just began university to do a biology degree and primary school teaching, she could well do without this, in the summer she started with symptoms of bloating and tummy troubles. She had lots of antibiotics when she was young for glue ear. Luckily she travels from home so i can help with her diet, she says she wants to do it untill at least christmas.

Also i get the skin on the side of my cheeks from biting them hard while i sleep, they get sore and the skin peels off.
Re: What is Oral Thrush
Hi Ann,

Have you ever tested your home for a range of industrial chemical contaminants? It sounds a lot like both you and your daughter have symptoms associated with an impaired immune system, which could result from long term chronic exposure.

Re: To Steve

Hi Steve,

I have cleared my house of chemicals and potential pollutants the best i can, run air purifiers etc, but i do intend to get it tested by an expert. It is a very old house and i think there is a mould problem. About five days ago my son ran a bath, forgot about it, i found the water dripping through the ceiling about an hour later!! for the last couple of days there has been a strong mouldy/fusty smell. I have had the heating on full day and night since and left the bathroom window ajar. I think mould has been activated, because surley it couldnt grow that fast. Is there any way to treat mould? or test for it in places that cant be seen? and can it aggrivate candida?

Thanks

Ann

Re: To Ann
Mould can lie dormant for years in the form of spores. Mould needs a nutrient (for example cellulose in wood or insulation) and moisture. It can live in porous materials like plaster, as long as the prerequisite moisture and nutrients are present. Certain moulds give off mycotoxins some of which are extremely neuro- and immuno-toxic.
There are 2 ways to test for moulds. The first is by exposing a culture media (agar gel plate) to the mould spores, then placing the media in an incubator in order to produce mould colonies, which can then be typed. The second way is to measure Volatile Organic Compounds given off by the mould, which penetrate through walls and allow 'hidden' mould to be measured. This second technique is very specialized and only available from a few analytical labs Worldwide.
Mould in your home can definitely weaken your immune system, which in turn fails to suppress Candida yeast, which then grows explosively in the gut due to the presence of moisture and nutrients.
Re: To Steve
Steve,

I think EPD triggered my mould problem, i was supposed to steer clear of all allergens for a while after having the shot, i didnt consider mould. Our farming neighbour had a field of beans in front of our house that went black and mouldy before been sprayed of with roundup. The bath overflowing was the last straw on my immune system and now i seem to react to smaller exposures in the house. I think while i look into testing it i will hire a dehumidifier and keep the heating on full.

Thanks
Ann

Re: To Ann: Mold growth
Ann,

Mold can grow in 24 hours. It doesn't need much time.

Yeast can double itself every 1/2 hour in your intestines. Scary.
Re: What is Oral Thrush/TO ANN
What a shame your daughter has started with yeast problems. I wonder does she have mercury fillings and if so is she intending to have them removed like you did or is the yeast overgrowth possibly down to all the antibiotics she took as a child?
Amanda

Re: What is Oral Thrush/TO Amanda Amanda, No, she doesnt have any amalgam fillings, but she did wear dental braces for two and a half years, since having them removed she has worn a retainer, i know these appliances contain nickel. I think this together with repeated courses of antibiotics when she was younger have caused the problems she is having now.
