Thrush

Is this thrush? Help!! i have been going to the doctor repeatedly since last oct(05) for something that is more than likely thrush. have had 3sets of swabs taken, all came back negative 4anything tho. originally my only real problem was pain during sex which prob started b4 oct but gradually got worse til sex wasnt possible & also left burning feeling. had burning on & off til dec(have had that b4 but always thought was mayb v mild cystitus),then developed white blobby discharge & burning got worse.

doctor perscribed canesten(clotrimazole) cream & pessaries.stopped using cream in feb + got extremely sore, discharge worse2, sore to even go 2toilet + sit. Is it normal 4 multiple swabs to come bac negative and stil have thrush? iv heard of cytolytic vaginosis, would that show up in a test? dont want 2keep going to doc, starting to feel like hypocondriac! +getting swabs taken is way 2sore. any help / suggestions would be appreciated

Re: Is this thrush? Help!!
I have had similar problems to you. I have posted my knowledge on the subject on the forum before. I have repeated it below.

I have had GI candida problems for a number of years and have experienced all kinds of vaginal problems along the way. Here is a summary of my experience & knowledge:
1. I have had candida in the vagina which does not show on pathology. It responds to antifungal vaginal creams but I have to use daily and rotate or they lose effectiveness.

2. When I got rid of candida in the vagina I developed a problem called cytolytic vaginosis. Few GPs are familiar with it and it appears very similar to candida with itchy pain and a whitish discharge. The treatment is cheap, quick and easy. Make a solution of 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 teasp of bicarbonate of soda (an alkaline solution). Soak a tampon in solution then squeeze out a little, apply a little cream to the tampon tip for lubrication and insert into vagina. Keep inserted a few hours. My experience is that relief comes within hours. If you get relief repeat procedure each day for a few days. Problem should then be resolved.
3. During/after candida some women become sensitive to oxalates in their diet which causes vulval pain. My belief is that this is a leaky gut related problem. I have had this in the past but after treating leaky gut the problem disappeared in a few months after some 4-5 years of suffering. The short term solution is a low oxalate diet (info is available on the web or from an organisation called The Vulvar Pain Foundation). The longer term solution may be to treat leaky gut.
4. I have experienced another pain problem at times when I get rid of the candida which I find responds to inserting cream containing dimethicone (ask your pharmacist). This problem has reduced for me over many months on the rare occasions I have managed to keep candida at bay for this long.

Hope this helps.
Linsey -- Is this thrush? Help!!
Linsey, occasionally, I will add a post to the forum's book. I'd like your permission to add this post of yours to our forum book. It gives people a very good idea of what is needed in order to heal. When I get time, later this year, I will finish updating the book, and then have it available for sale again. Any profit from the book goes to support the forum and charity.

Re: Linsey -- Is this thrush? Help!!
Yes, you can add it to the book. I am very happy if I can help anyone.
