Candida Mucus

candida & mucus Many times a year my head and ears fill with like a cold. Most of the time I have no other symtpoms but sometimes in the winter I get sick with it. Even in the summer, my head just fills up. I need relief from this! Is this candida related you think?

Thank you

Re: mucus
Yeah, dairy and gluten (a protein in grains) are very mucus forming in many people, since they are highly antigenic.

Aside from that, it's also likely that you have an environmental allergy that causes mucus in your ears and stuff.

One thing I think people misunderstand on this forum is assuming candida causes every problem. It MIGHT be candida related, or it might be related to any of the other many, many pathogens that can cause a state of increased permeability in the intestines, just as candida theoretically can. First off, there's several fungal infections that can be candida-esque. Then there's several parasides like Giardia (which has been shown recently to be able to cause a Crohn's-like Ileitis), B. Hominis or D. Fragilis. Then there's the several viruses like chronic cytomegalovirus or measles of the intestines (probably more rare). And finally, there are many problematic bacteria that can cause problems like candida, such as Klebsiella, Proteus, Yersinia. The list goes on and on. The point being, just because a low sugar diet helps doesn't mean it's candida. To prove my point again, remember that for a good deal of bacteria, their preferred source of energy is glucose. Thus, low sugar diet = feel better. There is a pathogenic E. Coli bacteria implicated in some cases of Crohn's. E. Coli survives off of lactose or glucose. If you have Crohn's and happen to cut out milk and sugar from your diet and feel better, does that mean you have candida? No, it doesn't. There's actually several studies that show that a low sugar diet benefits Crohn's patients and a high sugar diet sends them into disease. Is that because of candida? Possibly, but not necessarily. Could it happen because of these pathogenic E. Coli bacteria? Certainly. To imagine that candida is your only problem is a highly unlikely situation. Nontheless, whatever makes you feel better, keep goin with it. And whatever path you explore, I hope it yields you some firm results.

Re: mucus
Great post.
I have seen candida threads in my blood in dark feldt microscope, but before I only became well if I took both something antibacterial and antifungal. (Now, of course, I survive on fermented vegetables three times a day - more than half my diet)

Re: mucus
I think, candida or milk. Have you seen any connection with what you eat? The same day or a few days after you ate something special?

Re: mucus
I eat no dairy or wheat but I do eat kamut, corn and rice(all whole grain). It really doesn't matter what I eat. After every meal, my head and ears fill up and then I have a drainage all day. At night it clears up because in the morning I am better then it starts with the next meal. I have no environmental allergies.

Andrew and Tove, thank you for your wonderful and informative posts!
