Reflex Dystrophy

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
Hi All,
Does anyone know anything about . My friend has been sick for two years and has been diagnosed with this. She can't drive anymore or use her body very well. It is even hard for her to use the computer. I have been searching on the net but most of what I find is conventional which means no cure. Thanks for any info.

Re: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
My daughter went through this NIGHTMARE. Whatever your friend does, tell her not to get the nerve blocks put in (I did so much research where I knew more than the specialists). It's so excruciating. My daughter had it on her foot after having strep in her other foot. I guess it starts with trauma.

Anyway, the route of course to take i therapy. Many adults don't go through it because the slightest touch is unbearable. I witnessed my daughter who was ten at the time, screaming. But she had to go through that in order to make it better. AGRESSIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY. Also, she needs to be on prednisone. (20 days...this will do much good). I don't often get on this site, but I had to reply to this one.

I'll check back this week if more questions are needed.

Re: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
How was she diagnosed? I've heard it is a difficult diagnosis to make. Was it confined to her foot or did it spread?

I'm concerned about the prednisone. I think it can help with the symptom, but not the root cause and it can cause so many other problems especially in growing children.
Physical therapy is important.
Re: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
When she played soccer last year she had a really bad blister on her right foot which turned into a staph infection. She was hospitalized and put on intervenous antibiotics (this is what I think was the trauma). Three weeks later her foot was fine and then she started to develop a tingling sensation in her left foot. It got to the point where I couldn't even touch it. She couldn't wear socks or shoes. I took her to a specialist and they did an intensive catscan on her foot. It should a nerve reaction. It didn't spread because they caught the disease on time. I heard by waiting too long it spreads.
