Diflucan Pain

Day 3 of diflucan
Trying to decide if the pain in my kidneys and sloooooow urine output is a die off thing, or a bad effect of the diflucan?

I am supposed to be taking olive leaf along with this. I did it for the first time today. I feel pretty gross, but I *think* that is die off...dizzy, thick headed TIRED. I got winded walking up the stairs! Is anyone else doing diflucan?

Re: Day 3 of diflucan
I believe it is die-off. The same thing happens to me when I use a product that kicks my bootie. Sorry for your pain, but glad to hear I am not alone. Milk thistle, water and Cali Tea is what I use to get rid of the pain. =)

Re: Day 3 of diflucan
I've been on it about a week now and not really noticing anything this go around. When I took it last year I remember I felt really drunk for a couple of weeks then it got better.
Re: Day 3 of diflucan
I was worried because they hurt a bit before I took it. I did notice today tho that the pain came about an hour after the pill, so it must be it. Right now I feel that drunk feeling, but I know as soon as I add the olive leaf, I'll feel sick. Have you mixed an herbal anti fungal with it? My doctor was insistant that I do that.

Re: Day 3 of diflucan
I'm not mixing an herbal but my doc has me on compounded Nystatin with the Diflucan trying to hit the gut and the blood.
Re: Day 3 of diflucan
Wow, that must be intense. I did nystatin in 1998 and it really helped a lot. I didn't feel well while on it tho. Good luck w/it all! Please keep me posted on how you feel.

Different Opinion
Hi Sheryl,

If it is happening an hour after you take it, that is not die off. Die off occurs a couple days to a week after beginning a new regimen or doing some other thing that triggers healing. The stuff has to have time to die first, and the waste product has to build up enough before you can feel it. What is likely happening is your liver is not in good enough shape to handle the diflucan (and besides diflucan is notorious for hurting the liver, and thus you are becoming toxic very quickly as the drug will need to be rapidly detoxed. Don't forget, the drugs themselves can worsen an already compromised liver because the liver has to process the drug itself, not just the resultant candida die-off. And for me, the best thing that has worked to eliminate candida is to remian as toxic-free as possible since candida will proliferate in a toxic environment, which has meant eliminating antifungals rather than adding in more or others.

Re: Different Opinion
Hi! That makes a lot of sense. How do you feel about probiotics? I am having really bad die off from a new one I'm trying. Surely we must do SOMETHING to re-establish a normal gut terrain??

Re: Different Opinion
Well, it stopped happening, and I think it was ovulation pain for me. So far, I do feel sort of high from the diflucan, but its not bad.

Who was it who said diflucan doesn't kill anything, just stops it from growing?

Re: Different Opinion
I would look to your protocol to see what else you are doing that may be too much for your liver, such as taking antifungals or doing too much cleansing all at once. In my experience, when I ease up on stuff that is stressing the liver I can handle things that I could not handle before and sensitivities diminish. Are you "sure" it is die off and not toxicity? Also consider the type of probiotic you are using. For example, some do well on 3-lac, but others seem to get ill from it. Does it contain FOS? That can be problematic too. I have great luck with Healthy Trinity, but not eveyone does, so you "could" try experimenting with different brands. IMHO, you are better off getting rid of everything else and just taking the probiotics. So much of this is trial and error, and we are all so different and at different degrees of illness, that what works for me may not translate to you. I was at a point where I felt so ill that I was convinced the way to get better was to add in more and more stuff. In truth, it was backing off and eliminating a lot that actually helped.
