Diflucan
Day twelve on the Diflucan, lost appetite and feeling HOT etc, so i decided to do a urine test, leukocytes present as allways, BUT, urobilinogen changed colour, i looked this up and it says this can indicate liver dysfunction, in the leaflet for the strips it says that taking anything with azo-dyes can give this result, but i have checked labels and they are not in anything i am taking. Phoned Dr M, but she is abroad all week. I dont feel safe continuing with Diflucan untill i can find more about this result, its relevance and if it can mean anything else. Has anyone else had this?Ann
Ann, I think I would stop the diflucan if I were you. I am one that is overly cautious with things so keep that in mind. I dont know about the kidneys but it can be hard on the liver. I never felt well on prescription antifungals. ARe you having problems still with chronic urinary tract infections? Have you been checked for interstitial cystitis? IF the leukocytes are coupled with nitrates, you have an infection which needs attention. I have found thou that even with just leukocytes and no nitrates, an antibiotic would help my symptoms. I think that lack of bacteria in urine sample doesnt always mean lack of infection at least that has been my experience.
Thanks Liz,
I used my husband as a guinea pig and tested his urine with the same strips, we were both shocked when his sample gave the same result, raised urobilinogen!! Dr Ms receptionist said she would send some of their own strips out to settle this, when i used hers urobilinogen was normal, so was my husbands. I emailed the manufacturer of my strips, they asked me if the tests had been in contact with any moisture or condensation, as this can give false positives. I keep them in the bathroom cabinet (bath overflow!!!!) i am sure the lid was on tight though, either way i am Sooo relieved that all is okay, and the company are even sending me a free tub of test strips. Restartd the Diflucan, but intend to keep an eye on liver.
As for the bladder probs/kidney pain, the only thing that keeps them at bay is sticking TOTALLY to the meat and veg, i am still hoping Diflucan will help.
Ann
I'm sorry Ann! I'm so afraid to start it. I get it Friday. My gut tells me to give it a go even tho my mind goes crazy w/fear.
I called the Stop and Shop Pharmacy to get a price for 30 pills and they said 179.45. Costco Pharmacy has it for 29.95! I'm glad I am a Costco member! lol!
