Diflucan
and other azoles just prevent fungus from growing.they dont actually kill it according to the recent research I have read.
Note also that ketoconazole and
perhaps all the -azoles inhibit
conversion of vitamin D from
its precursor form to its active
form.
I derived temporary symptom relief
from diflucan. Initially I thought
that meant it was working against
yeast, but in my case, it may have
been reducing my overly high active
vitamin D levels.
High vitamin 1,25D is puported to be
a sign of a bacterial infection from
Lyme or similar bacteria.
My experience is that all the azoles only work in the body, not in the GI tract. Thus there is some reduction in symptoms whilst using it but the underlying problem remains and symptoms return as soon as the drug is stopped. The candida breeds resistance quite readily to the azoles. My experience is that Lamisil is the best drug as it works in both the GI tract and in the body. The candida find it harder to breed resistance.
My big fear is that it says to inform your doctor if you have had an irregular heartbeat, and I have. He said its ok to take it. BUT I have had a normal heartbeat for an entire month for the first time in 6 months. I don't want to do anything to risk it. I'm so confused! I change my mind about a zillion times a day.
I dont blame you sheryl. I know that the azoles are a problem when used with alot of other drugs. Some of the antidepressants,a stomach drug called propulsid(which maybe banned by now), and a few asthma drugs and maybe others dont combine well with azoles.Heart irregularites are one of the main side effects. These heart irregularities are a pain because with this type of illness, you dont always know the source. You just know that there is a sensitivity in that area and it makes you extra cautious. I agree with Lindsey about it not being helplful or effective in the GI area. I think sometimes it can be used with nystatin which is only for the GI area. The best herbal I found for systemic yeast was pau de arco but it is hard on the mucus membrance and you dont need that when trying to heal leaky gut. Have you tried natural antifungals? Do you know why your heart has those irregular beats?
No, I have no idea why I have the irregular beats. My doctor thinks its candida related and that is why he wants me to take the diflucan. He did say to take an herbal antifungal along with it.
I was going to to a bottle of Fungal Defense and then the diflucan, but I think I'll do the diflucan and then the fungal defense. Or maybe I can do them together?
What to people who don't have these issues think about all day? lol!
Well, I'm about to take Fungal Defense while I sit on the diflucan fence.
Thats interesting about that study. So does that mean when you stop the diflucan it starts growing faster than ever? Scary thought!
