Zithromax & Diflucan
Paul,
Do you know if Zithromax helps Diflucan? I think you posted an article about Zithromax making Amphoteric B more effective.
Do you know of anything negative with the Zithro/Diflucan combo?
Thanks,
Well , there are conflicting opinions with this , conventional thinking warns against taking bacterial & fungal antibiotic together, up to yet theres not much in any research on this, the main theoretical risk is of resistance building in both organisms But it looks like things have progressed and we have more evidence to the contrary ..The info below is new , as you see its all guesswork but it looks good to me I can tell you that Zith & Lamisil for me is a deadly combination. .I am virtually symptom free ..Fluconazole is also used to treat Lyme [a spirochete] it has anti bacterial qualities ..Personally having experimented I think all antifungals work certainly against spirochetes So Diflucan & Zith should go together like peaches & cream .hope this helps ..Paul
Apparently azithromycin stops the fungus from building proteins that it needs to survive. By itself, azithromycin had no antifungal activity.
Since fungi are eukaryotic cells, they share many pathways with human cells, thus increasing the probability of antifungal activity of "nonfungal drugs". The potential of these drugs for treatment of fungal infections has been investigated sporadically using the drugs alone or in combination with "classic" antifungal agents. A review of the literature, supplemented with a number of more recent investigations, suggests that some of these compounds enhance the activity of conventional antifungal agents, eliminate natural resistance to specific antifungal drugs (reversal of resistance) or exhibit strong activity against certain fungal strains in vitro and in animal models.
