Home Made Colon Cleanse
What Main Ingredients should I be looking for in a Good Colon Cleanse?
This is working for me, so I'll pass the information along in hopes it's helpful to someone else. I found I can easily and cheaply make my own colon cleanse. This seems like a good thing for several reasons. Both small quantities and large are easily handled. It's much much cheaper than typical premixed formulas. The recipe can be customized; in particular anti-fungals can be rotated easily. And liquids are no problem. Here are the two recipes I've used so far. You may want to reduce these quantities by a third or more; I'm very large (~250 lbs). 20 fluid ounces Water; 2 Tablespoons Bentonite; 3 Tablespoons MCT Oil (mainly caprylic acid); 2 large capsules Probiotics/Acidophilus; 3 Tablespoons Psyllium husk (Metamucil laxative) 20 fluid ounces Water; 2 Tablespoons Bentonite; 15 drops Grapefruit Seed Extract; 3 Tablespoons Psyllium husk (Metamucil) For Bentonite I obtained Sonne's #7. For MCT Oil I use "MCT Fuel" from Twinlab. This is sold to bodybuilders (but may not be as common as it was a couple years ago). The Twinlab formula is "emulsified", which means it will mix easily with water. The label doesn't even hint at Candida use, but if you read it carefully the main ingredient is caprylic acid. Take apart a couple capsules of whatever "good bacteria" you're using. Rather than including the probiotic in the GSE recipe, I take it separately several hours later because GSE is very strong and may kill the probiotics as well as the yeast. I use the store brand Metamucil knock-off from my local drugstore. In my case it's called "Vegetable Powder Laxative". I've used the "original texture" rather than the "smooth texture". It's probably available with flavoring, which matters more with the unpalatable GSE. The flavoring is much too strong though. So I cut it by half or so with unflavored for the GSE recipe and by four fifths or so for the MCT recipe. The MCT mixture makes me a bit nauseous if I lay down right away. So I'm careful to take it several hours before bed. Be sure to put in the psyllium last, stir it up, and drink (not sip) it RIGHT AWAY. I let a glass sit on the counter while I answered the phone one night, and came back in just a few minutes to find it was no longer a liquid but rather like jello. And if you increase the amount of Psyllium be sure to increase the amount of water too. Don't ignore the dire warnings on the package about inadequate liquid.
