Is It Candida?
My life has been upside down for four years now. It all started with prostatitis symtoms including bladder burn/pain, rectum pain, penile pain, premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction etc. This was followed by IBS, snapping and aching joints chronic fatigue and depression.
Ive had sugar cravings for as long as I can remember and I think I am sugar sensitive.
When Im off sugar for a few days I do experience more energy.
Ive doe every test and spent ALOT of money on medicines and treatments without results...
Please HELP!
Does this sound like candida and if so what can I do???
Thanks
There is a guy on the candida forum that has a lot of the same prostate type issues. You should check him out. He is researching another pathogen.
Hi, it does sound like a classic case of candida overgrowth. Here is what I would recommend, cleanse the liver and bowels with the Epsom Salts and Olive Oil, you can find info on curezone under liver cleanse, start replanting the good critters in the gut with a good quality probiotic or search out Kefir and fermented foods, I think these are better than the store bought probiotics that might have live cells and might not. I would also start testing the urine for PH, you can cleanse acid waste and alkalize with "Vaxa's Buffer PH" or Ecological Formula's Tri-Salts" along with a green leafy vegetable diet, eliminate grains at least temporariy. I would also take a geen food supplement with enzymes, herbs, etc., I like "Country life's Green Edge", I take this in the mornings with Chia seed, very beneficial.
These are the basics, stay with it and remember you are going to feel worse before you feel better, when the immune system is trying to eliminate candida that has moved out of the gut you will feel very fatigued, washed out, brain fog, etc.
Hope this helps, I've been battling this for 20 years but I do see light at the end of the tunnel, it can be conquered but it takes due diligence.
Thanks
One question though, how strict is the diet?
Ive been reading several instructions and they all differ. Some say you can eat carbohydrates if its wholegrain some say no carbohydrates at all which in my experience just depletes seretonin and makes you feel like hell. Some say artificial sweeteners are ok some say its not, same with fruits, beries and so on and so on.
Ive come to the conclusion that sugar in all forms, yeast and simple carbohydrates are the ones to avoid, am I right?
Also if one would like to drink alchohol from time to time whats the best option?
Thanks
I think lot of times too much focus is put on diet and it takes away from more important things we could be doing. I think a strict diet is very important in the first month of treatment but if you are doing the basic protocol right then you can start adding some foods back but most foods that you eliminate for candida is junk anyway and should be avoided for a healthier lifestyle. I focused more on what I could not eat which was sugar, refined carbohydrates, yeast and moldy foods, etc and anything that would cause a big insulin response, I include grains because most grains available now are toxic, with mold and fungus, pesticides etc., and they cause an insulin response that leads to metabolic syndrome later in life which are serious degenerative diseases like diabetes and heart attacks. I would stick with complex carbohydrates and good quality protein and nothing but distilled water for a while, always ask yourself before you eat it, how fast will it turn to sugar, the slower the better. If you have a candida overgrowth in the gut then the goal is to get rid of as much as possible as fast as possible and replace the space they take up with the good guys that will prevent re-infection. Take a serious look at Kefir, this stuff is loaded with good bacteria and good yeast that will displace the bad and re-colonize the gut, these are resident bacteria, not transit but I think the Kefir should be something that you take for life.
If you do the bowel and liver cleanse, the 4 tablespoons of Epsom Salts that you take in a 12 hour period will wash the bowels and eliminate a lot of toxic material including candida, come back with good quality Kefir and you'll feel the results quickly but it takes time to complete the job depending on how long you've had the overgrowth, with me I now know I've had a problem for my entire life to some degree, I just reached a tipping point with the use of antibiotics, alcohol, cigarettes and bad diet and I would be pushing up daisies now if it wasn't for forums like this and info on the internet. Good Luck
Hi,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write a good response. I think Im going to do a candida test just to be sure. I still think my problems might be caused by sugar sensitivity alone.
One last thing, kefir contains yeast doesnt it?
Thanks again!
Yes, it contains yeast but the good kind, my body soaks it up without any problems.
Saccharomyces Boulardii is a probiotic, non-colonizing yeast species closely related to Brewer's yeast and not related to the yeast group to which Candida belongs. It aggressively displaces problematic yeast species in the GI tract and has been used in Europe to prevent post antibiotic diarrhea. Saccharomyces boulardii taken orally produces lactic acid and some B vitamins as it becomes established and crowds out the unfriendly strains of yeast. It is then eliminated after supplementation is stopped. During use, friendly probiotic bacteria are allowed to colonize in the GI tract supporting micro-ecology. Saccharomyces boulardii has been shown to increase levels of secretory IgA and research has shown it to be effective against specific unfriendly microbes.* Hypoallergenic.
The diet and the advice differ, because we all have different reasons as to why candida managed to take hold, and therefor different solutions
You have to find your own solution.
My solution has been fermented vegetables to replace the bad intestinal flora, no starch for two years, but now I can eat it.
I did liver cleanse once, but it wasn't good for me
