Candida Sufferer
I've been suffering from this problem for years upon years. I range from 99-92 lbs & have a petite frame at 5ft 7 in. I've tried the "candida starchless diet" & lost alot weight & felt about the same if not worse. The diet wouldn't be a problem if I was at a normal weight & height but I'm not & never have been. I'm not an anorexic . Just an anomaly. Any suggestions?
Fermented vegetables might help if malabsoprtion is the problem
hmm interesting this one, ive got a candida problem aswell, but im stick thin, and getting thinner, i just did a 30 day anticandida diet (so very low carbs) but didnt feel any better. however i am eating alot of meat, and ive got a feeling i cant digest fat or something. when i first started with my severe candida, i ate only ptotatos and vegetables for 5 days, after 5 days i felt great, ever since then ive eaten alot of fatty meats and im wondering wether it is infact a problem with fat which is an underlying problem. im on the first day of a no fat diet and im going to try 7 days and see if i notice anything, it should be interesting. just giving you an some ideas :)
I've suffered from lyme, babesiosis, candida overgrowth, giardia, HHV-6, liver flukes, and other infections. I'm 5-10 and dropped weight precipitously in 99 and 00, having reached a low of 130 pounds. I'm now 164 pounds and feel reasonably stable weight-wise. However, mobilizing metals too quickly, either by chelating or by killing off candida too quickly, immediately results in rapid weight loss.
It took a long time to find a formula for gaining weight. Here's a summary of what helped me the most.
1) Parasite Herbs
2) No processed food, extremely low grain, low carb, low unaturated fat, high saturated fat, organic, grass-fed or nearly raw food diet.
2a) focus on alkaline forming diet combined with pasture-raised animal foods.
3) Massive amounts of minerals
4) Massive amounts of enzymes
4a) includes a tremendous amount of cultured foods
5) Treating babesiosis, a tick-borne, malaria-like protozoal infection common with lyme disease. Many more folks have babesiosis than realize it.
6) Treating Lyme in general. Lyme is phenominally common, passed by mosquitos, biting flies, spiders, ticks, and is sexually transmissible. The majority of CFS/candida patients are likely lyme patients.
6a) Requires a huge number of antimicrobials, both broad spectrum and specific action.
7) Salt/C protocol.
8) Take good quality chlorella and charcoal to absorb toxins in the gut
9) Liver flushes combined with chlorella and charcoal to absorb toxins dumped during the flush.
10)NOT TREATING CANDIDA OVERGROWTH TOO AGGRESSIVELY
1) Anti-Parasites: I like worm squirm 1 AND 2, black walnut hull tincture, Olive leaf extract, colloidal silver, and a blood electrifier.
2) Diet: THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD REGARDING MY WEIGHT GAIN. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH. Raw grass fed eggs mixed with lemon/lime juice, biotin (egg whites deplete biotin,) a little manuka honey (antimicrobial), 6 drops oil of oregano, 1 spray colloidal spray, and a couple drops of olive leaf extract. The raw pasture-raised eggs are a superfood, providing a wide range of aminos, as well as heavy metal detox support, brain and liver support in phospholipids and sulfur compounds and albumin. I eat 2 to 3 DOZEN a week.
I eat grass-fed red meats 3 times a week. I eat pasture-raised chicken once a week. Lots of organic veggies, usually raw AND EXCEPTIONALLY WELL chewed veggies, some slightly steamed veggies, very few root veggies, 2-4 cups juiced veggies daily, some cultured foods with nearly EVERY meal, goat milk yogurt made using probiotics as starters nearly daily. I consume raw grass-fed butter, tropical traditions coconut oil, Carlson fish oil, and tropical traditions palm oil daily. I consume evening primrose a couple times a week.
I avoid nut and seed oils, and basically ANY processed food.
3) Minerals: I take magnesium to BOWEL TOLERANCE daily. This takes some time to determine a dosage, and frankly is a moving tarket depending on how depleted you are. I take magnesium 3 times daily, magnesium chloride in morning, magnesium malate afternoon, magnesium sulfate before bed. I take calcium supps with each dose. I take boron with the morning dose. I take compound potassium salts with the magnesium/calcium. These salts support intracellular ph. I take sodium and potassium bicarbonate FAR away from food, just before bed. These support the ph of the blood. I take a ts of Now brand coral calcium COMBINED with chlorella. Hopefully chlorella binds the bulk of heavy metals in the coral calcium. I risk it because it cearly helps, including with reducing morning thrush. I take a multi-mineral but watch some minerals using hair analysis. I take germanium sesquioxide daily, along with quite a bit of chromium and molybdenum and selenium.
4) Enzymes: I generally eat some cultured foods 4 tmes daily. 24 Hour Goat milk yogurt with A LITTLE enzyme organic rich fruit such as pineapple and papaya. Also, I'll often throw in a few berries. I'll eat a few bites of cultured veggies as well. I'll often have raw butter and cultured veggies with a lunch. I'll always try to eat some cultured veggies on an empty stomach to encourage high levels of enzymes in the blood. This reduces undigested food particles and SOME bugs in the blood. I'll all also take a multi-enzyme and candex on an empty stomach. I have to be careful with these, as too much digests the mucous lining in the gut. You'll know as you'll start getting stomach pain. Never had this problem with HUGE amounts of cultured veggies or yogurt.
Note obviuosly the cultured foods provide good flora on top of HUGE amounts of enzymes.
5) Babesiosis: babs occurs in perhaps roughly 2/3 of lyme cases, and the VAST majority of lyme patients have not been diagnosed. EVERYONE WITH CHRONIC HEALTH PROBLEMS INCLUDING CFS/CANDIDA NEED TO GO TO GREAT LENGHTS TO RULE OUT LYME. This is hard, but you are missing a HUGE opportunity at gaining health if you avoid this step.
6) Lyme: Lyme is a complex of problems that appear to include borrelia, the spirochete bacteria most associated with lyme, probably at least one other tick born infection such as babesia, bartonella, brucella, rickettsia, and others. Usually HHV-6 seems to be involved, giardia is incredibly common, and worms such tape and flukes are common. Candida overgrowth is probably always present to some degree. Dysbiosis is certain, and food allergies crop up. Lyme patients often gain weight unless they have babesia and or giardia. Further, heavy metal toxicity seems to be involved.
As you can see, lyme is complex and requires some study. There's a lot of helpful info though. Again, one is missing a huge opportunity by avoiding the lyme diagnosis.
7) Salt/C helps fight worms and borelia directly. It supports stomach acid, and supports the adrenals. It provides antioxicant support. It probably does a whole lot more. It's incredibly helpful, and perhaps one of the better diagnostic tools in the lyme. It's easy and CHEAP. EVERYONE WITH CHRONIC HEALTH PROBLEMS SHOULD AT LEAST GIVE IT A TRY IMHO.
8) Chlorella: I like chlorella.
9) Liver Flushes: Folks with chronic health problems should try to do a LONG series of these. However, if too many toxins are mobilized, they may need to be spread out for the first few months, years, or unfortunately longer. There is a TON of info.
10) Candida harbors mercury, and it can release the very toxic methyl mercury form when killed off. One has to be very careful when treating candida. Note that fermented foods, garlic, Oil of Oregano, and Olive Leaf can induce this, so be careful and take it sufficiently slow. My recovery has been fraught with episodes where I treated candida too aggressively and lost weight as a result.
New to the board. Interested in your comments regarding your protocol for gaining weight while fighting candida.
You seem to be eating lots of high-fat foods, especially eggs -- 2 to 3 DOZEN -- really? Doesn't this clog your liver function big time?
Also regarding the raw organic veggies. I've read in multiple places that organic vegetables should always be cooked or at least blanched quickly for 60 seconds because they harbor a lot of parasites. Think about what most organic crops are fertilized with -- often chicken or other manures -- loaded with parasites. I'd appreciate your comments...
You mentioned you take lots of minerals -- what are the others besides magnesium? I can't seem to take magnesium without getting palpitations.
Thanks in advance,

hi, is there any way i can email you for help with candida and other internal issues you mentioned?
Hi,
Have you tried making homemade Kefir and yogurt? How about the leavened bread??
Hi, sounds like some kind of malabsorption problem. What are your symptoms other than weight loss? The first thing that comes to my mind is Celiac disease, you might try eliminating all grains for a while and see what happens.
