Candida Protocol

Where to Start with Candida ? Hi Everyone,
I'm happy to have found this informative forum.

Was wondering if anyone could lead me in the right direction what the best thing to start with if you have Candida.

I have suspected for years that I have it - maybe was in denial :) but everything seems to be falling apart lately so I thought I better get it to together and address it.

My mother has had it for years and unfortunately it has brought on a host of problems for her and I would like to avoid ending up like her.

Problem is I feel like I've read every article on candida there is and all the recommended treatments. I have so many things in my head - caprylic acid, nyastatin (sp) colon cleanses, oil of oregano etc. - I have no idea where to begin.

So if someone who's been through it could kindly point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative !

Thanks

Candida overgrowth is a symptom of immune incompetence. Aids patients, who's T4 immune cells are killed by the virus are overwhelmed by gastro-intestinal candida.

Anything that damages the cellular immune system or destroys the natural flora in the gut can trigger yeast overgrowth. Treating the Candida without first rectifying the cause is futile, as the Candida simply returns once therapy is withdrawn.

Causes of cellular immune damage can include exposure to heavy metals, (mercury, lead, nickel, cadmium etc) or exposure to environmental pollutants such as Pesticides, Herbicides, Chlorinated hydorcarbons, Poly Aromomatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), Poly chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) etc.

Damage to gut flora could originate with overuse of antibiotics, hidden food allergies etc.

Once the cause has been identified, it needs to be rectified.

Where to start:

Check immune system status and gut flora status...

depending on the results

Check for presence of environmental toxins

If toxins present, therapy should concentrate on its removal (e.g chelation, anti-oxidant therapy etc)

Once the cause has been remediated, anti-fungal therapy can be commenced followed in 1-2 weeks by a diet that avoids simple sugars.

After several weeks of ASFs and diet, probiotics may be given that target those microbes found to be missing in the gut flora status test.

In general, candida overgrowth is a disease of the modern age, caused by a poor diet rich in sugars and poor in essential nutrients and the overuse of toxic chemicals and drugs which damage the immune system and gut flora

Just remember that candida comes when soemthng is out of balance in your body. The "final solution" is different for each person here. Som ehad succes cleansing, some had lyme, myself I had a lot of succes with fermented vegetables and excercise. Best of all: it is cheap and has no negative side-effects! You can easily try it while you also try other approaches. Remember also to try and find out why you got candida in the first place. Only bad diet? Intolerant to something? etc

Thanks,

Will for sure try to figure out how I got it in the first place - - I've always had a sweet tooth so I know I'll have to make some major diet changes by eliminating sugar, white flour etc.

My mom , unforutnately has had it her whole life and it has wreaked havoc on her health . So there's even the chance that I was born with it.

But thanks for your advice - I at least have a few avenues to start with.

Hi, with candida overgrowth, its just bascally too many bad critters and not enough good colonized in the gut. How do you reverse this? Cleanse, cleanse and do some more cleansing, go to curezone and learn how to do the liver cleanses, this procedure will wash out the bowels and improve liver function. The second step is to try and get the good critters replanted and colonized where they can keep the candida in check, this means loading up on probiotics long term and lots of them. I have found Kefir to be best for me but you need to take some extra Bifidus with it. If the candida has gone through the gut wall and is into the Lymph system then you have a more serious problem and its going to take longer to recover but it can be done with persistence and confidence that what you are doing is the right thing. I have found that Alkalizing the body fluids to be the most beneficial thing you can do, not only for candida but for a host of other problems, cleanse, replant the good bacteria, alkalize and you will see results, you can find info on alkalizing at www.ph-ion.com, I'm using the PH Booster and Blue Minerals and have had good results with it.

Thanks for a most imformative post - clearly put my priorities in perspective. I will check out the liver cleanses first but was just wondering about a few other things.
I seem to have read alot about going on a restricted diet for candida - not sure how I'd be with that - busy lfiestyle, three kids etc. What are your thoughts on that ? Also, Ive read about the importance of the ph of your stomach too - but recently I was reading somewhere where they said it was better to have an acidic stomach and alkaline elsewhere - I reread it twice to make sure that I hadn't read it wrong because I had heard that too much acidity is a negative thing. No wonder I'm so confused :) .....and one last thing - I've been using acidopholus - just started 8 pills a day. Is this good for restoring the good bacteria ?

I totally appreciate your input and help - clears up some of the "brain fog " I already have LOLThanks again

Hi, as for diet, ask yourself, what does candida like and what does the good bacteria like? The candida is happy as long as your are feeding it sugar or anything that turns to sugar quickly (refined carbohydrates). The good bacteria loves the complex carbohydrates like leafy green vegetables.
The ph I am talking about is at the cellular level, you are right about stomach acid you've got to have a ph in the stomach below 4 to digest food properly but the processes that determine the ph of the extravenous fluid happens outside the stomach, remember that candida produces acid waste that has to be eliminated, this added to acid forming foods and low alkaline mineral reserves creates and enviroment that candida loves, and just the opposite for alkaline fluid, candida hates it.
I don't think taking just Acidopholus is enough, there are over 400 micro-organisms in the digestive track and you want as many as you can get, this is why I like Kefir, the real Kefir grains contain over 37 organisms that are antagonistic to candida, I think this should be part of the daily diet where you have candida or not.

Hey thanks,

You're a goldmine of info. I checked out both those websites . Yuck - I'll have to get my courage up for the liver cleanses though. I also emailed the kefir lady - as I'm not entirely sure what the kefir grains are - so if it sounds like it will help me - I'll give those a go too.

But most of all my sincere thanks for making sense of this to me - the internet is a great thing but it can also bombard you with so much information and it's hard to decipher what to try.So a big thank you once again

I like that advice. However, a very high percentage of people with "Candida" also have Giardia or some other parasite. Ameobic parasites may proliferate if you feed them probiotics. So, maybe start with a parasite cleanse --- at least one that gets rid of the ameobic parasites. MSM helps get rid of those parasites and many people with gut problems find MSM helpful. However, if you try MSM, only start with a little, perhaps 250 mg per day until your body gets used to it. Large amounts of MSM usually aren't required. However, if you do prefer to use a lot, remember that a lot of MSM will deplete your body of other minerals like molybdenum, zinc and copper. These should then be supplemented.
