Suppressing Appetite

natural appetite suppresant for cravings?
I am thinking about taking the plunge and doing the candida diet. I fear failure because I know how powerful the carbohydrate and sugar cravings are, and I have never been able to adhere to this candida diet when I attempted it in the past. It occurred to me that perhaps I can add some natural appetite suppresants and other supplements to help stave off the overwhelming cravings in the beginning that make you want to give up the whole diet. I wonder, has anyone tried adding anything to help with cravings and appetite? I am thinking of supplements like hoodia, garcinia cambodia, chromium, etc... I would only want to take something safe and natural. What is everyone's opinion and experience with this? I just need something to help me through the first week or two, when the food cravings are at their worst. I have to do this diet because I am so sick, but not sure I can do it. Any thoughts on this??

Hey, Start the diet and stick to it!!!! Don't worry about the cravings, give in a little if you have to, but get right back on it. You sound like your symptoms are bad enough to be motivation enough.

Thanks for your responses to all my postings. How long did it take your cravings to go away once you started the diet? Did it get easier and did the cravings and slip ups subside after a week or two? Also, I have heard the "Complete Candida Yeast Guidebook" is a good resource for doing the diet. Have you heard of it?

Everyone's body is different, but I have to be very strict to remain healthy, you may or may not have to be quite as strict but I would suggest it. The cravings will start to subside after about three weeks or so. My cravings were so bad in the beginning, I would chew a piece of chocolate and spit it out. But, if you don't remain on the diet for a long time, you will just yo-yo back and forth between die-off and regrowth, suffering cravings along the way.

This is what has worked for me. My advice is to focus on diet alone and beware of the following foods; nuts, nut butters, dairy, grains, flour of any kind, and stick with only low sugar vegetables and meat (no potatoes) and NO FRUIT!! YOU CAN DO IT.

Hey. I did Atkins for a while (didn't even know about Candida back then). My cravings went away really quickly, maybe 1-2 days. But I did do something to replace the things I was craving. For the first week or so I just had lots and lots of chicken with veggies. Any time I would get a craving for ANYTHING I would get chicken. It was kinda like creating a Pavlov's dog's reflex for myself. After that it has always been easy for me to give up any food. Now that I fear Candida, I have given up sweets, bread, fruit and, sadly, pizza. It's just much easier when you have that other thing, the allowed food, you can fall back on. It's your pick, any one of the allowed foods.
I hope that helps...
