Full Candida Diet

full candida diet absolutely necessary?
I can't seem to beat this thing... I mean I did for a time and though I have eaten very carefully and healthfully, I am back here and sick as hell... this will be my third extended systemic bout. (I feel like candida is a chicken and an egg thing. Does X or Y cause it or does it cause X or Y??) Last time I did the diet under doc's supervision along with other things she advised, I lost 20 lbs. in one month and for someone who weighed 122 to start and is 5'6", it was a bit of weight. Now I am a steady 112-114 and I am concerned abt going on such a harsh diet again. Does anyone know of a good outline of a modified diet that may be less dramatic in the areas of weight loss, but still effective? Is that even possible??! I hardly want to be anywhere near 100 lbs. while trying to fight this thing again. I am sorry to whine about losing too much weight for any of you who may have opposite weight concerns. Any links or books who be useful. I also was thinking of seeing a dietician for help this time instead of just my doc. Are they generally more hip on the candida thing than MDs seem to be?? Any thoughts/personal experiences are welcome.

I lost ten kg last year from stress, and now, after eating fermented vegetables for a while has put them back on (almost). I eat fermented vegetables, meat, some fish, oils, greens and some fruit. I also almost stopped taking oliveleaf extract, but am now taking some strong vitamins it seems I might have to take stronger olive leaf extract again (the vitamins feeding not only me?)
I love fermented vegetables !Sauerkraut, achar, kim chi... you name it!

interesting. Why do fermented veggies help with this, do you know? I thought anything fermented promoted yeasties! Gosh, this get confusing sometimes! Thanks for the suggestion. I do like kimchi, but haven't had it for years!

I think a nutritionist would be more helpful than a dietician--at least in my experience I've found that to be true.

As far as if it is absolutely necessary to follow extremely restrictive diet, that's debatable. Everyone has to find out what works best for him/her. It's really different for everyone.

Is it possible for you to eat sprouted grains? That may help prevent additional weight loss.

Have you tried Primal Defense products? They helped me to tolerate more foods.

Several of us on the board are finding there are other culprits for this disease. It's especially true in resistant cases or recurrent cases.

SOme things to check are Lyme, co-infections like babesia, giardia, parasites, heavy metals.Have you done a OAT test and CDSA? Both are very helpful.

Read the forum and continue to ask questions. This is a great place for helpful info.

thanks for the . I had a co-infection last time and then after the candida left, i had a parasite. what is OAT? my doc doesn't want to bother testing again because she says the empirical evidence is that it is the same old same old. you have highlighted the reason it would be best to test b/c what if there is more to the story? I have not tried primal defense. I will look into that. I can tolerate grains, but can I really tolerate them or am I feeding the yeasties?? I appreciate your thoughts and agree 100% with your post about the h20. I used to be so bad about drinking water, but I do think sometimes it brings me back to life. My three year old nephew said it best. "When I am tired, I drink water and I don' feel so tired anymore." It is amazing where we can learn our lessons from! I do think that water can flush toxins out, but I wonder about its ability to do so aggresively enough for like die-off types of situations, you know? Seems too mild, but I don't really know. I will indeed read other s and keep plugging away. This isn't as bad as the last time, but it is spiralling... My poor husband. I was first diagnosed with candida fifteen years ago and it is interesting to hear my mother saying that she now thinks she, my father and my grandmother all have these problems... It is so real and so widespread, I think. It is insane really how much we struggle with a lack of resources. Thanks for thoughts on nutritionist. I would really know the difference myself! My best to you!

The OAT is Organic Acids Test. You can get it done through Great Plains run by Dr. Shaw. It is a very good test. It shows about 20-30 different levels for metabolic acids for dysbiosis, the energy cycle, aminos, etc.

Thanks. I was last tested via Great Smokies which proved useful. I really believe I need to be tested again just to know exactly what we are fighting. I am vowing to find a new doctor, which may derail me, but at least I know a bit of what to d in these scenarios with diet and a-fungs since I have done it before. That will buy me some time before I figure out which doc can help me next!!
