Fighting Candida
A nutritionist diagnosed me with candida about 1 year ago and it was confirmed by a lab saliva test. I think it started when I was 9, after receiving loads of antibiotics for tonsillitis and glue ear. My health went downhill since then, and I'm now 32.Been on a very strict diet for 9 months now, and am improving gradually, but it still hasn't gone. I've been taking Threelac and Canherb for a few months now, which seem to be among the best antifungals I've tried. Recently started Colostrum, but my die-off got really severe, so I've cut out Canherb for now.
I live in the UK and haven't worked for a while, because of this infection. It makes me really space-out, depressed, allergic to practically everything.
I understand with some people it takes a while to clear. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going round in circles.
Hi, I am almost 12 months on now and I have ups and downs but have felt so much better since I have been on the diet! I have lapsed slightly over the last month as I had a 2 1/2 week holiday in Thailand and although the food was pretty good I allowed myself the odd treat and ate more carbs than usual.
I am seeing a nutritionist in Essex who has a Candida treatment program and she has put me on a program including 3 months using a parasite zapper and anti viral herbs which she believes are the 2 things preventing me from beating the Candida myself. She also advises against the exceptionally strict diet that I was originally on as it is very harsh on your body. I still eat no wheat and no actual sugar but have relaxed other things slightly.
If you need any details let me know, there are actually 2 nutrionists in Essex that I know specialise in Candida treatment.
I think the diet will be an ongoing thing to some degree for anyone who has had this illness!! :( It's better for us though and you just have to think of it as a healthy lifestyle and taking care of yourself! :)
Good luck.
Hi, I live in Kent and luckily there is an excellent nutritionist with lots of candida experience, in my town. She's been advising me for a year now, but I only started the diet last July (after 3 months shock).
I also use a zapper sometimes, which I find very powerful.
All the best
Not too far from me then! I'm glad you have someone to understand and help you. I didn't start seeing my nutritionist until January this year at which point I had already been through a lot of tough times and seen the worst of it. I was just glad to have someone who understood and who wanted to help me more than anything to start with!!!
