Candida Diet
According to my dr. if the candida doesn't go away, the gut is not healed. The only thing that really helps me long term is Nystatin and no dr. wants to give it to me for very long term. They always say you shouldn't have to be on antigungals the rest of your life, but they haven't found anything that works for very long. I'm so frustrated. I don't stick as close to the diet as I once did. I just can't find the strength to go back to it for the long term. I have no life when I do it. I have to become a recluse and I did that for such a long time. Like you, I stayed pretty strict for quite a while, but as I started adding foods back in things got off again. I know coffee is most likely a culprit for me. Today I was reading that coffee can kill the small villi in the intestines. I keep trying to give it up, but with so little left for enjoyment, and my husband drinking it constantly, I'm having a rough time. I was off it for a couple of years before and never really got over wanting it. It seems so hard to have so many things you can't have, doesn't it??
Hi, I was telling a friend about how I have to eat the other day and she said "that's not living, that's just subsisting". It really depressed me because it's true.
I can't believe how sensitive I still am to carbs and sugar. Even with the cultured vegetables, I am so limited. But, I don't have much choice. My only treats/cheats are diet coke and a couple of chips now and then. I don't miss coffee as much as I thought I would because it really gave me heart palps anyway.
Here is a short list of foods that some can eat but really screw me up; corn and potato chips, soy milk, kefir, coconut milk, nut butters, and avocados. All of which taste good and have lots of calories. Instead, it's meat and vegetables for me with about four small pieces of spelt bread.
I went out to dinner last night and everyone was eating dessert as I sat there and dreamed what it must taste like. Yes, this sucks.
