Candida Diet Suggestions
I've been on a form of the candida diet for about a year, and have recently cut out everything but vegetables (I'm not eating peas, corn, carrots, pototoes, tomatoes or any veggie that's sweet) and meats/eggs. I do eat cream cheese, sour cream and cottage cheese -- my doc said those were ok. I'm on anti-fungals and probiotics. I've cut out carbs as much as I can. I'm still getting yeast infections, though. It's very frustrating. I take flax seed to ensure my bowels are moving daily, if not more.Oddly, since I've cut out the carbs I've had more itching (in my ears, too) than before.
Argh! Help?
I also have itching ears. I also suffered from an itchy scalp for a couple of years. I eventually guessed that it may be a leaky gut symptom and worked on that. I have had very considerable improvement of my scalp, and I think some improvement of the ears. Thinks like slippery elm bark, glutamine, NAG and aloe vera may help.
Hi, itching ears is the best barometer you have to judge the benefits of what you are doing, the more itching the better, it is telling you that something has changed, the immune system has awakened and is fighting for you. There is a lot of confusion about reactions to certain foods or supplements and it took me a long time to tell the difference between a good reaction and a bad reaction and one thing you have to remember you are not going to feel at ease and energetic when the immune system is hyped up and trying to expell candida from the body. I've had two people that I recommended the Kefir tell me that it nearly killed them that they were allergic to it, one even went to the emergency room. I don't think he liked it when I laughed out loud when he told me, he just didn't understand what was happening and nothing I could say would change his opinion. I think the best advice on diet is to not eat sugar out of the bag and don't eat anything that is made from sugar out of the bag and you will be ok. You know that I'm an oldtimer here and I've come from the bottom up the hard way in the learning process with systemic candida and what I tell you is the heartfelt truth as I see it at the time and I'm not just taking off the top of my head but relating something I have experienced. I have seen some improvement over the years but they were tiny steps and very slow in coming. Its only been in the last year that I have seen dramatic improvement and a realistic hope that a complete cure can happen for me. Here is what I would recommend if my mother had candida.
1- Internal cleansing, this includes the bowels, liver and kidneys and its not a one shot deal.------------------------2- Replace the micro-organisims in the intestinal track and this is also long term. I think the best there is, Kefir if you learn how to use it plus extra Bifidus.------------------------------3- Create an enviroment that is unfriendly to candida and friendly to the cells and increased blood oxygen. You do this with minerals and alkaline water and food, check out the Alkalive PH Booster and Alkalive Blue Minerals at www.ph-ion.com, these are great products. ----------- If you will do the above and understand that you are going to feel lots worse before you feel better and stay with it as long as it takes you will see results and remember when you are healing old issues can surface, even emotional issues, this is part of the process, understand it, stay the course and you will be rewarded.

Many of us cannot tolerate any dairy...do you think that could be your problem?
Dairy has never bothered me in particular. Cream cheese, cottage cheese and sour cream are low in carbs and have no sugar. Is there something else in them that might be affecting me? I'm all ears. :)
Lactose in dairy is a sugar.
Hmm, as I was thinking about this, I wondered if artificial sweetener would make the candida worse. Anyone?
Yes. Only Stevia or Xylitol are allowed on candia diet. Also, don't dismiss Tom's post even though it sounds like a lot of work. He is right on the money. There are no quick fixes for candida. Also, BTW, most versions of the candida diet do not allow dairy, except for the kefir or some high quality yogurt, so I am surprised that your doc says they are ok. I would not shy away from the carrots, tomatoes, etc. either, even tho they are sweeter than some others. They have great healing properties. You are best off avoiding all grains, and eating 1 piece of fruit a day, than eating some grains and no fruits (this is my opinion, and what has worked for me), as it helps to alkalize the body. Even tho you never had dairy allergies prior, candida cleansing can make allergies develop, due to leaky gut. Getting allergies while trying to treat candida is very common. Is more uncommon for it NOT to happen. They should be transient and will alleviate after your body is healthy.
To confirm what your are saying, my food allergies got worse after clearing candida. Am working on that issue now. it sounds weird, but its true.
Hi! I am sorry to hear your food allergies got worse. :( Have you tried Colostrum or Slippery Elm or L-Glutamine for healing leaky gut? That made a huge difference in my allergies. Are you still flushing?
