Candida Diet Question

candida diet question Does anyone ever really feel satified on this diet? I never feel full no matter how much I eat. It's really getting to me, especially in the evenings, when my body and mind are craving potatoes and bread and cheese. I have read about comfort foods, and it's true what they say. They make you feel better. (unless you have candida) I miss them.

Someone answered...
when i follow the candida diet, i eat a small amount of potatos a day, im pretty confident i get the carbs and not the yeast, plus i think we need a small amount of (complex) carbs a day to keep the energy up

Someone answered...
I agree about needing complex carbs, but potatoes are not good for me. I have learned that the hard way.

Sorry you are struggling so much fella, the real strict diet is so hard to keep to!!
I have been the same but I seem to have settled down a lot now and my weight loss has steadied (although I don't think I have anymore to lose as I only weigh 7 stone!).
For the first 3 months I was very strict on the diet but now I have eased up and like I think Liz said - I just eat a very healthy varied diet and watch for reactions and 90% of the time I still feel 100% better than I ever used to!
I have a strict 'no sugar' rule that I will try to stick to indefintely and also no refined products...bread, flour etc and no yeast or anything artificial. I do however use limited whole grains for some things (excluding Wheat which I can't tolerate). I use brown rice flour, oats and oatmeal, brown rice cereal and rice cakes. I just limit them and don't have more than 2 small portions per day. I have also successfully tried Terence Stamp wheat and yeast free bread!
The only dairy I have is live yoghurt (mostly goats), organic eggs and very occasional goats cheese.
Fruit - so far I seem to be able to tolerate rhubarb (which is actually a veggie anyway), cooking apples and grapefruits which makes deserts slightly nicer.
I try not to have white potatoes but I do now have sweet potato once or twice a week which are very good for you and also butternut squash which is similar and very tasty.
I always eat some raw food with each meal to include the enzymes but I love cooked food too!!
I make a wicked Moussaka with aubergines, minced lamb and a topping made with eggs, live yoghurt and rice flour!
I also made a slightly naughty but scrummy crumble this week! Rhubarb and cooking apples with a topping made from oats, brown rice flour and organic butter - using Stevia as a sweetner! Yummy! My first real treat in over 4 months and still not really bad!! :)
I relax my diet a lot more than some people on here but then I find it easier to stick to in the long run and I don't get tempted away by really bad things!
I also keep up my fats as much as I can by eating avacadoes regularly and using lots of extra virgin olive oil and organic butter. Root vegetables are also quite building. A nice occasional treat I have is root vegetable crisps which are yummy - carrot, sweet potato, beetroot and parsnip! :)
Anyway - good luck and it will get easier. :)

Once again, I am jealous. I can't eat ANY of the things you listed.

Someone answered...
Why can't you eat them? Because you react to them? What kind of reactions do you get?
The main reaction I get is my stomach blows up if I eat something I can't tolerate or shouldn't eat. I also hear noises in my stomach and everything stops moving (if you know what I mean)!! I also sometimes get wheazing and nose problems with some foods?!? But most of the things I mentioned I am okay with. I think I may be starting to react to yoghurt though which sucks as it is a staple part of my diet nowadays!!!

Someone answered...
All of the foods you listed feed the yeast in my body. I believe I have created a strain that can live on almost anything, but I would be careful. Those symptoms you mentioned sound like the ones I have when the yeast is out of control.

Someone answered...
I totally relate, for around fifteen months i had nausea DAY AND NIGHT, after getting nickel/mercury removed from mouth, removing chemicals, doing lots of saunas etc my appetite SLOWLY returned, all this time i had lived on meat potatoes broccoli and cabbage and a couple of fruits, even a miniscule amount of anything else would make me ill for two - three weeks!

I stuck to my limited diet faithfully, but as my appetite returned i began to feel SO HUNGRY, like you say esp in the evenings, i became very brave and managed to add eggs back into my diet, this gave me more confidence, i found sesame seed bars made with honey, i tried a mouthfull and was fine, so the next day i ate a whole one, i was soon eating seven a day.....then WHAM! NAUSEA, bloating, flushig, eye pain, scalp/ears itched, elbow/knee pain, bladder playing up, KIDNEY PAIN, (i think i have candida on my kidneys because of metals) plus a list of symptoms a mile long came flooding back. I had been using NDF - three whole bottles without a problem, so i have stopped this just in case, but i think i have fed the candida and am now paying. So it is back to the meat and veg again along with antifungals to try to reverse the damage

Back in the old days on Saturday nights i used to buy a bottle of wine and some chocolate and we would settle down to watch a nice film, now its Pau d arco tea and i just feel agitated, i get so hungry after doing somthing physical that i shake, worst thing is having no means of gaining much needed weight.

Do people recover and get back onto a decent diet again? its so daunting, your right candida has a lot to answer for.

Someone answered...
I've been at this three years, and even though I don't have many of the symptoms I used to, I still don't have the stamina others do. I feel hungover most of the time. And, I can't eat anything other than meat and veg. I wish I had an answer. Culutered veggies have helped me the most of anything I've tried though. p.s. what is NDF?

Someone answered... Hi Brett,
NDF is for chelating heavy metals, it contains cell wall decimated chlorella, organic cilantro and 12 strains of cell wall broken beneficial bacteria. I still cant beleive i tolerated it so well, everything else i tried caused an increase in symptoms i could hardly bear. I took 58 drops twice a day for three weeks without ANY problem whatsoever.

I am sure the reason i have had an UPSURGE in symptoms is because of my twelve day binge on these sesame seed bars with honey, it was so stupid of me, i should have known better, but at the time i was just so gratefull to have found something i could eat.

Anyway, back to this battle, it dominates every aspect of life is time and finance consuming and every day is groundhog day, it wouldnt be so bad but despite all effort i dont feel like i am living, but rather surviving.

Pleased you have found the fermented veges help, i might try these at some stage. How is your weight?

Someone answered...
Groundhog day is a perfect analogy, good one. My weight is holding at around 167 soaking wet. I would do anything to gain ten pounds, but there is no way. I have to eat constantly as it is. How about you?

I took a raw foods class recently. It was helpful because the teacher showed us recepies for lots of different healthy foods including desserts that arent made with sugar etc. I think that it is almost impossible to stay on the diet that strictly. I feel that diet is very very important but so is eating a variety of foods. I went on a strict diet that allowed no more than 60 carbs for weeks and it seemed only to help temporarily and weakened me in the process. Now, I just try to eat sensibly-no white sugar, low carb, no bread, etc etc.

Someone answered...
The problem with me is, I need alot of calories, and I've learned by now what I can tolerate and what I can't. My diet is very limited, anything that even sounds like dessert is probably not going to work with me. Can you give an example of one of the recipes?

Someone answered...
Sure. Can you eat any fruit? She made a pie crust out of crushed walnuts and filled it with apples that she pulsed in a food processor. She adds alot of spices like cinnamon and tops it with a crumb crust. She also made a smoothie out of tahini, bannana, xylitol, and crushed ice. It was really good. The nuts and tahini add lots of calories to.
I think if you go to google and type in raw foods, you can then scroll down to desserts, or sweets and it will give some recepies. I will gladly look for some more and type them out for you. With my brain fog, I dont seem to remember recepies without the book in front of me.

Someone answered...
Nope and nope. All those things, out of the question for me.

i m having the same issue
i just started the diet about almost 2 weeks ago and for the past few days ive been starving!!!!

today i bought a lot of veggies and pumpkin seeds and ive have been snacking all day. oh and hummus thats pretty thick.

i bought kefir (which i think is kind of hard to get used to) but its pretty filling.

ive realized though that you have to carry something with you all of the time.....

i feel so much healthier....but i think about really amazing bread like raisin bread and salty butter all the time too........

(...and cupcakes and cake mmmmmmmm.)

yeah its hard...

The two things that I daydream about eating are those hostess suzie Qs and snowballs. I remember getting those in my lunch in elementary school(probably my downfall)

I posted to you just below, under Tom's post about surviving huricane Katrina. How long have you been on the diet? Many of the things you listed, I can't tolerate. Some people can, but you have to be careful. I have trouble with hummus and all nuts, seeds and grains. The only way I can keep the candida in check is to be miserable. Sad, but true.

ive been on the diet for 2 weeks so i dont know yet what i can and cannot tolerate....i tried hummus yesterday and it seemed ok? im not sure yet about dairy products....so far ive been fine with them....but im trying to reduce the amount. i thought we could eat beans on this stupid diet?

im actually allergic to a lot of fruits veggies and nuts so its limits me even more. most raw veggies make my ears itch like crazy but the more i have to eat them the better its getting.

ive been eating carrots so much i hurt my jaw.

its evil they just opened a buttercup cupcake store down the street and i used to die for just one of those little buttercuppy suckers. i had a vision of throwing a rock through the window falling to my knees and screaming WHY GOD WHY!!!!

i have to say though that i do have a lot more energy and my fingernails are pretty nice looking for the first time in a long time....and i showered and didnt loose clumps of hair...and my skin is a lot shinier??? maybe this damn diet is working? mostly though its nice to actually be taking care of myself and treating my body so nicely...

who knows... i ordered 4 candida diet recipe books ill see if theres anything interesting to share....

Someone answered...
The fact that your fingernails have healed up is proof positive that your diet is working. However, I had the same miraculous results the first three weeks I went on the diet, and then the candida seemed to mutate and was able to live on less. I wish I had been more strict from the start because I believe now I have a very resistant strain. My advice is to be very strict for a long time. p.s. carrots are very high in sugar and carbs, be careful.

Someone answered...
so are you still eating a lot of fermented veggies? that seemed to e holding you pretty good.

i am eating lots of fermented veggies too and they give me some die off for sure. ut the igger die off is from c and salt. it comes in strong waves ut hopefully i just got out of my last one that was in total like 20 days though not all continous. it sucked ut now i am feeling all right.

all right keep us posted!

Someone answered...
