Candida Diet Fiber

white bread
I read what you wrote about tolerating the white bread better than the grain. This is the same for me too! I don't really do well with breads in general, but the grainy ones make me sick for days on end. The same with carob. It is like I swallowed a bomb! I think that carob and grainy breads give our digestions a workout that they just cannot handle. The quicker we digest it, the less time they have to harm us. I don't believe in these one size fits all candida diets for just this reason.

digestive issues
The diet experts always rail in favor of more fiber for digestive issues. However I think not all fiber is equal. I, like you guys, prefer refined flour breads to whole grain breads and obtain my fiber quotient from veggies. Also, there is a difference between refined flour (white flour) bread and ultra-refined white flour bread which probably shouldn't even be fed to birds. There is a public parking lot near me, and every few days a van pulls up and drops off a mountain of old donuts. Hundreds of poor unsuspecting birds come and gorge themselves on that junk - I always pity them.

I was sickened by this donut story. How sad that someone would deliberately put birds in harms way. Animal cruelty is by far one of the worst crimes! Thanks for your post.

I know what you mean. I feel the same way.

I have tried to stay away from all the junk (breads, chocolate, etc.) I don't really tolerate any of it that well. In fact, I can feel ill if I eat too much meat. My portions tend to be weird, because my diet is so restricted. I just cannot seem to live on mostly meat, fish and a bit of veggies for more than 2 or 3 months before I just go crazy. I wish I had a stronger will. I am ready to try again. I need to say goodbye to breads, choc, and dairy for good. Wish me luck (ha!)

Good luck... I think we need to view them as antogonists to our health. I actually dont eat them either except on occasions. When I wrote that I tolerate choc and white bread, I didnt mean that I eat them on a routine basis. I meant that if given a choice, they bother me less than the carob and whole wheat which is recommended for candida diets. It is interesting to hear feed back esp when you realize that others share some of the same experiences. It also makes you realize that trial and error with personal experiences are as important sometimmes as what some of the medical experts that study this say

I react the same way. Plain white is less symptommatic for me and unbleached whole grain is more. Since I tested positive to wheat for allergy, my conclusion is the more there is of the actual allergenic substance, the more reaction my immune system gives it.

BTW, I never eat white bread now. When I do eat bread I only eat sprouted.

wow! i can't believe you gals can eat . i haven't had a bite in over 5 years :(

i used to be a aholic but now i'm not even sure if i would like it anymore.

Someone answered...
No, I really can't eat bread, but I haven't been able to stay away from it for years on end. You are one tough cookie!

Someone answered...
That is a logical explanation. None of the yeast literature will acknowledge this. I am surprised because many people with yeast problems have problems with wheat and dairy. I would like to start experimenting a bit with raw dairy. There is a real good cracker that is yeast free that I generally use instead of bread.

Someone answered...
You will love raw dairy cheese. It doesn't cause the mucus for me that regular cheese does, and digests way more easily. Try a raw goat milk cheese. It is very expensive, but what a great treat!

Someone answered...
I actually have been eating a little of the raw organic cheese and really like it. I have tried goat cheese and yogurt and just cannot stomach it. I think that one reason that candida docs recommend whole wheat instead of white, is that whole wheat digests more slowely in the system thus causing a slower rise in blood sugar. Elevated blood sugar is known to induce candida growth. What the docs are not taking into consideration is that many of us are wheat sensitive and therefore the heavier the grain, the worse we are symptomatically.

The raw goat cheese made you ill, or regular goat cheese? Regular goat cheese makes me very ill, but the raw goat cheese is much better tolerated than the raw cow.

Someone answered...
It didnt actually make me physically ill. It just tastes icky to me. It is almost like it wont go down . I had the same experience with gotein. There is a distinct taste to goat products that I dont like.

Someone answered...
The raw goat cheese that I was buying had a very mild flavor. I found the grassfed products to actually have a strong, unpleasant flavor. Have you tried these?

Someone answered...
It is so funny that you mention this penny. I almost am about ready to give up on beef entirely. I dont want to eat it unless it is grass fed and organic but the taste is terrible. I suppose if you were raised on that and it was all you were used to ,you wouldnt object. I am amazed at how differently it tastes. I dont notice a big difference in the taste of organic meat but in grass fed, I really do. To me, it has a wild gamey taste. My husband didnt like it either.
I have heard that goat milk can taste bitter depending on mating season. Have you ever heard anything about this?

Someone answered...
Yes, I have heard this about goat milk. It can vary in flavor. I wouldn't eat it if it tasted gamey or goaty. It has a very mild flavor. I cooked-regular goat cheese tastes more goaty to me. The raw has barely any flavor. It tastes great with a few cherry tomatoes as a raw treat. I just remembered something. I tried emu burgers several years ago, and they were mild as well. They are extremely lean, so you need to cook them in oil to keep them really moist. I am not big on experimenting with game meats, but when severe allergies rear their heads, it is a good go-to meal.
