Candida Diet Cravings
I just read your post below and you sound alot like me. I never feel full either and I have hypoglycemia too which adds to the problem. I have to eat a huge amount of food everyday just to keep going, and the candida diet makes this difficult. I end up eating alot of meat to keep going but I have no choice. Do you eat meat? I always feel better after a good steak and salad. Can you eat that? Don't give up, you will get over the hump again. p.s. I would lay off all supplements if you're taking any.
Thanks for the post. I do eat meat and had been eating a lot of it for awhile, but less lately. I did find at first that it was helping me feel more full on the diet. I will try to get back to more protein. I also tend to each a can of salmon at lunch with peppers in it. Thanks for the tip. I did get away from the protein... On the supplements, why do you suggest getting off them? I don't absorb right and am anemic now amongst other things. Do you mean supps in general or multis to? Curious to what your thoughts are on this. I am taking quite a bit of them but they are all doc recommended and purchased through a company my doc works with that only sells to docs... Maybe I should try cutting down to just the multis and EFAs... Thanks again. I thought I had turned something and then boy did I slide! Fngers crossed that I truly find a solution rather than something I think is working and then doesn't! Watch the Sox today? Damn Yankees!
I've learned some things the hard way in the last three years, so you can learn from my mistakes if you wish. This much I know for sure, in my body anyway; vitamins feed yeast (I have been told this by a very knowledgable doctor, and I have seen it myself first hand), secondly, supplements can backfire by throwing your system out of whack. This happened to me everytime I tried something new. I made my biggest headway by sticking to a strict diet, and laying off all supplements and anti-fungals. You also have to figure out which foods are feeding the little bastards. Here is a list of the worst offenders for me; avocados, soy milk, corn, potatos, grains and nuts, and of course all the obvious foods. The cravings can really suck sometimes, but I find if I have half a diet-coke they pretty much go away. It doesn't seem to bother me. Most importantly, have you tried cultured vegetables?
I don't know if I said it in that post, but I don't have trouble with cravings much. I have trouble with hunger and just plain feeling sick every time I try to each. I know I can't have any flour or refined or fruit sugars. Other than that, at this point, everything appears to be an offender from chicken and salad to steak and peppers to salad plain, so I think part of it is something else. I appreciate your thoughts on the supplements. I will see what my doc thinks about laying off them. I am vitamin deficient along with the iron deficiency, so I hesitate on te multis.... I will lay off the herbal type ones, though. I need the EFAs to repair my leaky gut, so I will stick to them too, but cut out the extras and see....
I think I have done fine with anti-fingals or else I don't know that I have done worse with them. Last time, I tested for all the candida having gone away with the diet, supps and a-f, but maybe this time is different. I have the half cans of diet coke if I feel the need too, but I don't crave much.
On cultured, just started eating those. More of a pick me up at first, I think, but still feel sick even with a cabbage snack... I am hoping over time they could help more. I am going to ride out another month and then call my doc to be tested again and see what is up....
How do you know what foods flare it up? I don't see a cause and effect since I feel sick no matter. Also, I have tried to see when my rashes flare up, but it seems to me to be about 12 hours after I take my Diflucan...
Thanks for you help!
Hey, I am lucky in a way because I can tell by looking at my skin if I have eaten something that feeds the yeast. I breakout with red bumps. The more red bumps, the worse I feel and when I clean up my diet, they go away and I feel better. I hope you figure something out soon. I know when I was using anti-fungals, and supplements, I was causing more harm than good and I never felt well.
Thanks. I am going to lay off most if not all the supps. I am going to watch my rash more to see when it flares. I am not eating anything bad and since I get it anyway, I figure it is because of the die off. Thanks again. I'm crossing my fingers on the supps. I am also going to go more raw again. I think that helped me before. Thanks for your advice! Easing up on the supps will certainly save me some loot! HA!
Hello again, Your symptoms are very much like mine and since you probably have hypoglycemia too, I bet we have similar problems. I think I remember reading where you said that you actually feel better when you cheat a little. I'm the same way, but that's just the yeast saying thanks for feeding me. I've experienced this over and over. The die-off symptoms are worse than the yeast symptoms when it's being fed. Been there and done that so many times. I swear when I start to feeling better, I get amnesia and make the same mistakes over and over. This is just my opinion, but why don't you try focusing only on diet, with as wide a variety as candida will allow, no supplements or vitamins and definately no anti-fungals. And double up on the cultured vegetables. Try having a small amount with every meal. That's what I do. Give it a week and see what happens. What do you think?
I do feel better if I feed the yeast, which I assumed to mean what you said which is that is says, thanks, so I just don't feed it. I just alwas wondered about that. My only hesitations is my vitamin deficiencies and the fact that diet only means to me that it will take longer for the yeast to die. I just spent two months trying to get my iron level up to normal with my doc and I don't want it to drop again... I am just hesitant because I have eaten well for more than the last year, not the candida diet the whole time mind you, but a healthy diet and I was still vitamin deficient. But a week wouldn't kill me. I wonder if I feel better it would more be because I am slowing down the die off by not taking the Diflucan... I will think about it. I am more partial right now to trying to clean my liver by going raw and focusing on veggies, mucho water, but that could be stupid too. I will think about it tonight... It is just a week. Maybe it would be good to slow it down for the week anyway... I appreciate your help. As much as I hate doctors, I just wonder if I should continue with what she has prescribed because it worked last time. At the same time, by this time last time I felt differently and I never felt this sick after eating... It is hard because while I want to feel better now, I don't want to delay feeling better later with the three month or six month mark where I felt better last time. I do know that I have to do something different this time to stay healthy... Am I making any sense??! Doubtful. My fog is sooo damn thick! I'll think about it. I will definitely drop most supps... All or nothing? Thanks again Brett for your advice and patience. I think I will try sleeping for a week to see what that does! HA! Hope you are feeling okay these days...
Hey, I read that Diflucan is very hard on the liver. That may be making you sick. How long have you been on it? I think that taking too many pills backfires bigtime. I did the same thing, and it was just making matters worse. It worked for a couple of weeks, but then my immune system crashed and I even got impetigo on my face. Maybe if you just took the iron tablets to keep that up, but tried to get the rest of your vitamins from your food. I can tell you what foods I eat daily if you like. I try very hard to get all the vitamins and minerals out of meals. I know it's hard to find a variety on the candida diet, but it can be done.
I was on the Diflucan for at least three months last time and was alright, though not great, but I didn't know that could be why, but I did recover. Funny how I can't recall how long it was! This time it has been two months, 100mg, every other day. I was thinking of not taking it tonight because I feel like crap. Maybe I will take a little while off that. I would mind the menu a la Brett, so I will email! I have a lot of veggies and fish and meat and started nuts again even though I had gotten so tired of them. I have eggs sometimes but not much. I am pretty set on my veggies meaning not much variety. I have started the cultured and while I like kimchee in high school, I don't seem to have a taste for it now! Thanks.
